No, they don't have to be IBEW to be qualified, but verifying that the utility workers had some training, and minimum licensees to conduct work on public power distribution lines is a good idea, it's not about hammer sizes on high voltage lines.

I think it's obvious what transpired. But the powerful politics of the IBEW will likely change the facts so over time it appears like a non-issue.

But what shouldn't be forgotten, regardless of what the truth is, is that so many are ready to believe that the union responded poorly. Because that is what they do. And they do it with no appologies.

yeah, but who BUILT that truck. it had to be the government............you know, cause of the bridges and roads thingy...............so the government can do with it what they will.....................

all in all, as a utility worker, (non union thankfully), this is a clusterfukc. (yes, i misspelled that), something had to happen, or it wouldn'ta made headlines...................

If you were a union worker with a union job in a union shop, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this utopia so you could sleep on the job, play cards on overtime, go on strike for unrealistic raises and retirement that only congressmen, Senators and CEO's get that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got union job -- you didn’t build that. Marx, Trotsky and Lenin made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet, because let's face it if it were up to a union they'd still be trying to create the wheel!

1 of our bros here works for a natural gas company here in sconnie. this is about how the utility he works for handles tasks. he was headed home 1 day when he overheard something needed to be done for a customer on his way home. he said he'd pick it up on his way home. NO was the answer. it's not your job. (a minor task he could've handled, but was of great importance to the customer).

the customer wound up waiting 2 more days for the service because it wasn't his job.

THAT'S union mentality.................

If workers refused to affiliate, it's on them not the IBEW.
