note the bread and milk...............always a running joke around here with me, I could always drive well on snow, my dad made sure of that...............and when the weatherman mentions snow, everyone goes nuts and cleans out all the open stores of milk and bread, LOL..........

watching the local news this morning.............they showed the only store ( a small convenience store) that opened late on Christmas..........................empty of milk, and bread, hehehehehehehehe.

We stopped at the store on the way home from visiting family in Texas on Christmas eve. The weather man was calling for 4" of snow here in SE Ok. You bet your ass we got bread and milk.

My first winter in Alabama, after moving from points north, the forecast was for snow. The lines at the grocery store wound around the entire perimeter of the store back to the entrance. I thought they were giving something away for free. The forecast was for a dusting to an inch of snow. I just burst out laughing.

What is it in people that when they forecast snow, they MUST get bread and milk? Many of these same people have not had bread or milk in their house for years but forecast snow and they get right in line with the moms with three kids.

I make sure I have firewood, bourbon and enough smokes to last a week instead. Who needs anything else?

When I lived in Georgia for a bit, there was a very light dusting of snow and they canceled school. I was shocked, having lived in Rhode Island... where it has to be higher than your knee and still falling for them to cancel school.

And yes Ice storm is a different monster, down here, plus the de-icer usually has washed off or is useless by then..........

in another lifetime I ran a high volume warehouse, and Kellogg's, et al could not understand why I couldn't get a load out of this area one stretch, and I told 'em send any truck you can find, and you can get the stuff, hehe..............needless to say their driver got held up, and stuck on the road, and I was able to get the load out before he could even get moving as he came into the storm on the downwind side and was iced in for an extra 2 days, in North Alabama, LOL, barely three hours away, normally, they never doubted me again!

We are good here in south Baldwin County. Most everything stayed to the west (west side of the bay) and north of us yesterday. We did have two waves come through between 7 and 9 last night with heavy rain and high winds, but all is good.

Mobile took a hard hit yesterday around 5 P.M. with the second tornado on the ground in the past two weeks. As of this morning the reports consisted of heavy property damage, several injuries but no deaths. Hope that has not changed during the day.

As far as the white stuff, in the past it has always amazed me here in the south that in addition to the bread, milk, and tp, the crazies would load up on rental tapes and dvd's. Well, what is the first thing that is going to go during one of our typical ice storms? You got it, the electrical service. Not only can one not watch their rentals, but will have a couple of day's of late charges. lol

Snowing hard in AL today. Just had to laugh at the lines at the supermarket.

Was not supposed to stick to the ground. Weatherman got it wrong again. I need a job where you can be as wrong as often as the weather forecaster and still keep your job.

Time to go home and smoke a nice one.

Stay warm Y'all

It "snowed" this morning but it's already sunny and back to the mid-40s. Been a little icy in the nearby cities this week but it seemed to go completely around Tupelo on all sides.

I don't guess I knew you are in Tupelo. I have lots of family from the area...Saltillo, Guntown, Mantachie, Sherman

We got about 3 inches in the Jackson area today. It's all gone now.

The kids came to my office and we had an awesome snowball fight using the gas cylinders as forts. Nothing like playing around explosive cylinders of gas!!!
