I have seen AR ,22 caliber conversion bolt/magazine sets. I wonder how their accurace compares to a complete upper with a .22 LR specific barrel? The normal bore diameter of 22LR is slightly smaller that the .223 center fire round.

Thanks Paul. Also GunBot is a handy app for finding ammo and reloading supplies. Not a fancy interface but plenty of information.

Once in awhile I go out to the garage and look at the old empty 100 round CCI Mini-Mag .22LR plastic slide top containers I now use for ignition wrench sets, various Allen set screws, and so on. Most boxes were priced $3.99 each.

Remember you are going to have to put out a lot of rounds.
Very accurately. Heads shots only or you are just wasting ammo and those calibers are over kill.
Ill take my MP 22 or any good grade 22 that accepts magazines that you can get lots of.
High grade removable optics, swap out with a red dot for close in.

Okay an AR for when I am in lots of danger against non zombies.

AK-47 without a doubt. Its WAY more reliable than an AR. With all the blood and guts from the zombies getting all over your weapon, you need something that is much less likely to jam. AK-47 is one of the most reliable rifles I've ever seen. You can dip it mud and pull it out and it will fire just the same as before you did it.

Truth be told, if you stay alive long enough to "find" a real battle rifle in the carnage, whether it be a beat to crap M4, AK47 or AK74, that prized $2000 match semi auto sporting rifle will be dumped on the side of the road.
