Had the pleasure of being asked to join my daughter's boyfriend and his father on an early morning grouse hunt. We bagged 5 and a pair of pine squirrels on Hardscrabble Mtn (elev 9,000ft+).

Nice photo there. Grouse are some sneaky birds. Fly like mini helo's about knee height. Good shooting.

I don't think we have those here. Some kind of chicken-like bird?

Small game bird about the size of a chicken, Feeds on sage, juniper and other berries. Very lean breast meat similar to dove. Grilled with a little garlic, s&p, olive oil, and a splash of lemon before removing from the heat. Bon Chasseur for desert.

Nice pix and good shooting. Great way to bond with hour daughter and inlaws! The smiles say itall!
Not sure about grouse that eat sage and juniper berries but the ruffed grouse of the east are arguably the most challenging game bird in North America IMHO.

Very cool!

The older I get the more I enjoy a good small game hunt.

I'm taking a customer Rabbit hunting this weekend.

This weekend will be cool for us. Low of about 50 and high around 70. We will only hunt until lunch or so.

Personally I don't hunt rabbits until after a frost. The snakes scare me too much.

Thankfully it was in the 30's last weekend.

We typically don't hunt rabbits on our land because we focus more on deer hunting. So during deer season, the dogs are not allowed to run. We do catch a late season rabbit hunt in early Feb though....its usually colder then but its also wetter.

I'm wondering, since I'm taking a customer, can I expense this trip?
