Interestingly, a loaded gun is the correct answer.

AGAIN *** DISCLAIMER *** I'M pro 2nd amendment. Just don't like stupid propaganda posted and reposted by people who never stop to think about it, just figure that if it agrees with what they promote, it's okay if it isn't true.

Here's the argument.... Pot is responsible for approximately 400 traffic fatalities annually (this is accidents in which the driver is ONLY high, not high and drunk).
Death due to unintentional firearm discharge killed 606 people in 2010. That's just unintentional discharge... not counting the 19,000 suicides or the 11,000 homicides. "But victor! Homicides aren't committed by law abiding individuals!!" Well... that's an interesting concept.
If you're referring to a law abiding individual as someone with all the proper licensing, I think you'll find about 50% of the homicides are with registered weapons (exact data is hard to find, but even with a substantial wiggle room that still multiple thousands of people). If you're referring to a law abiding individual as someone with no criminal record, then I think a safe estimate is that approx 5% of homicides are performed by someone with no criminal record (this is just based off data from milwaukee, as statistics are hard to find)... but even 5% gives you another 500 people.

End result... lots more people are killed either intentionally or accidentally by law abiding citizens with guns than by a stoner behind the wheel.

In reality the number will rise significantly with legalization which will increase users by significant numbers also..

Scientifically speaking..

Now would you rather be around a sober person with a gun in their hand or someone who is high with a gun in their hand??

Will rise in the future... sure.

but right now, when the little cartoon was made for people who don't understand more than 2 lines of text, it's false.

Anyway, I have to admit, looking at it the next day, I should have normalized for different groups (ie, deaths by gun per gun owner and deaths by stoned driving per stoner)... since the claim is "dangerous" it should be population independent. I don't know which direction it would change the numbers, and I'm too lazy right now to go digging to see....

And really, it comes down to who this "law abiding gun owner" is....

A lot of people on this forum are "law abiding gun owners", and from the crap I see them post I would figure 85% of them are just one rush radio show away from shooting up a school.

And Victor, you miss the point entirely.

**Disclaimer**
I do not own a firearm.

Compare a "law ABIDING citizen" with a 30 round mag to a stoner driving a car.
One is abiding by the law. As in present tense.
The other is impaired and in control of a 2500 lb mass with momentum, just waiting for the beep of a text to distract them in between twinkie cravings.

Why can't we look at the stoner in a more fair light? Say from a legal point of view some how?

Seems like this is slanted towards failure from the get go.

Maybe the gun owner is stoned. If he's in WA, or CO, then he's law abiding, right? Stoned and carrying a loaded fire arm.

That's it... a stoner driving, or a stoner waving a gun around.

The legalization of pot does not scare me.

Or at least it didn't.

Until I heard the proponents and their crazy claims of how safe it is.

Alcohol is a drug. It can be enjoyed responsibly.
Nobody says that they "drive better" when drunk. And more importantly, most adults can enjoy a beverage or two without getting drunk. (a glass of wine with their meal, for instance).

Non-medicinal pot is smoked for one reason: to get high.
And an alarmingly high number of pot smokers do claim that they "drive better" in this condition. If they don't say it out loud today, at some point in high school they used to brag about it, and many still believe it to be true.

Ironically, I'll accept the fact that pot is no big deal only when those who use it admit that it really is.

**Disclaimer** I am not stoned as I type this.

The 30 round magazine is MUCH more safer.

You guys are all missing an important detail. You kinda need bullets and a gun for the magazine to work as designed. Pretty much the only way you can get hurt from a 30 round magazine is to club yourself or someone in the head with it.
