To me it's no different than putting a straight guy in the girls locker room.

I don't want the gay kid kicked out. That would make no sense. But sense HE wants to be different( talking about being gay) let him change in the coaches office. I say remove the exposure to incidents.

And Ocho was speaking of how his buddies rough house with each other. So in that context plus he pointed his butt at us, I said go push that kid over.

Mattie B wrote:

So the kid WANTS to be gay.
OK.

And it's only OK for the straight kids to "rough house" or to get pushed in the ass.
OK again.

I hear what you're saying, but I can't help but choke on the hilarity of it all.
You've already said that the issue is the gay kid is too big compared to your 12 year old in the high school locker room.
Do I need to repeat that part again?
If Ocho were bigger this isn't an issue. If he's older, not an issue. But it's the other kids issue because he is gay and 17 and now should change in the closet and then what? Wait until you kid says it's OK to come out?

I'm against the whole transgender thingy. But you cant' make a gay kid leave the locker room because your kid is smaller than him. Think about how awful that sounds.

I think you have a son Tail. If not, I know we would never see eye to eye

But put your son in the same environment. Would you not have concerns?

Here's a 17 yr old who is 6' 165 lbs standing naked, talking about how he loves boys to a 12 yr old.

Sorry, but that screams issues to me!!! On many different levels.

Now you're just being stupid.

Move along Tail.

That was a joke.

I do have a son.
I also live in a community with more than a few openly gay students, and a few sets of lesbian parents as well.
In fact, I just learned that there is a transgender kid (born a girl, wants to be a dude). And I've fought against boys playing on girls sports teams.
So I think I can add some reason to this discussion, from my own perspective.

If I felt my son was somehow threatened by a gay kid or even a straight bully, I'd address it with the school. If the concern has any merit, I'm sure they'd handle it appropriately.

The gay kid in your story doesn't sound like a threat.
Your latest visual of "standing naked and talking about liking boys" is probably very far from the truth, or maybe only happened once. If it happened more than once, I'm sure the other boys would have intervened. We're not talking about some wall-flower chess club students. We're talking about world-class Mississippi soccer, are we not? Surely there is at least one other straight kid on the team to prevent any wrong doing. I doubt the gay kid is the alpha dog.

So many examples of how you know not of what you're speaking.

But I'll point out the easy one.

No, it's not soccer. It's cross country.

Hey. I ran cross country.

Alas, I wasn't one of the top 5 runners. Just did it to keep in shape.

But you're ignoring the meat and potatoes of what I said.
Maybe on purpose.
Hopefully on purpose, I should say.

I agree victor.

But that was an easy fact.

Proving theory or opinions is too exhaustive with Tail. I'm not going to change his mind or attempt. He is welcome to his views. They just differ from mine

Kudos to him for being more tolerant with his son.

Sorry - can't help myself here.....

They are not any different than any other part of society so just because they are gay, lesbian or trans does not make them rapist, pedophile or for that matter interested in someone who is straight. I am not a fan of the media explosions about all the Jenner stuff and so on but really????? Who cares if my kids best friend is gay? Or the kid on the team is gay and may look at another kid naked ??? I just don't understand the threat.......................

OK done now....

It's not tolerance, Mattie.

If you are concerned that your son will be sexually assaulted by a gay kid twice his size, then you need to do something other than post on a cigar forum. And you should do it NOW.

Otherwise, I don't know why you'd type a post here and then rescind because someone has different views. What is a forum for, if not differing opinions?

It's not about changing my mind, or me changing yours.
I just find it difficult to believe that you'd want to displace a kid of appropriate age because he's bigger than your kid and happens to be gay.
I know you don't like hearing it phrased like that because it makes you sound like a homophobe. (I hate that term).
But you have insinuated that if Ocho were bigger or older there wouldn't be an issue. So it's all about the size of the gay kid versus your own.
I don't know the answer, but I know it's not the gay kids fault for being bigger, being older or even for being gay.
Do your really disagree with that?

Tail, my friend, I'm not rescinding a damn thing. I 100% back my views and statements.

I posted what I discovered, last night, because it is similar to the OP.

I have not said the issue is size or age, but I will now.

I take issue with this guy saying he's gay to a crowd of 12 year olds while they are changing and unsupervised. What is his agenda?? Maybe he's looking for acceptance. Maybe he's trolling. I don't know.

victor809

.... maybe it came up because they asked him about girls?

What I find strangest about the story is that it's morphed from "he's gay because he tells us all the time how he likes guys" to "he's saying he's gay to a crowd of 12 year olds while they are changing and unsupervised"... you're making him sound like a duggar.

Why do you think he's only telling the 12 year olds? Or is he telling the whole team (I'm assuming this isn't a high school team composed of 12 years olds and one 17 year old gay kid)?
Why do you assume he's talking about it while naked, and not during practices?
Do we know he's the one starting the conversation?

I may can shed some light on this for you victor.

I have a 12 and 17 yr old on the team. They both said this guy doesn't hang with the varsity team. So he changes around the 12,13 and 14 yr olds.

Both of my boys said this takes place in the locker room. They are running during practice....not much chit chat happening.

And I can't say how his conversation began.

Is he a JV runner? because that might explain why he doesn't hang around the varsity team.
And I remember hanging around the locker room in my high school swimming after practice. We'd talk about all sorts of questionable stuff, and I'm sure some of the guys I hung out with turned out to be gay later in life... somehow no one got molested... and we had a very wide range of ages as well.

If you're really that worried about your kid getting molested by an older kid, then pull him out of cross country. Put him in a sport where he's only around kids his age and size.
