I can't say.

Which is why I originally said I don't know my next play.

I typically try to see all aspects before I go in hot.

Mattie, I don't know if this will help, or if you won't believe it...

there are straight people
there are gay people
there are pedophiles, but being gay does not equal being a pedophile any more than being straight means one could not be a pedophile.

if your son becomes "drawn to" or attracted to a gay person, it is not because he was forced/tricked. If he was forced/tricked, than he was violated by a pedophile, whether this team mate or an adult female teacher.

It seems that some people who have not had exposure (great word right now!) to many gays still have fears and misconceptions that feature the gays being pedophiles. Pedophiles go for children, gays go for adults of the same sex. It's more than a definition.

Tail, my friend, I'm not rescinding a damn thing. I 100% back my views and statements.

I posted what I discovered, last night, because it is similar to the OP.

I have not said the issue is size or age, but I will now.

I take issue with this guy saying he's gay to a crowd of 12 year olds while they are changing and unsupervised. What is his agenda?? Maybe he's looking for acceptance. Maybe he's trolling. I don't know.

Now it's a crowd of 12 year olds.

Perhaps we need to start at the beginning so we know what we're discussing.

Different subject: Why is Ocho running instead of kicking? Isn't it soccer season?

No this guy is varsity

And your solution doesn't work for me

Lots opinions here. So here's mine.

I was always taught my rights end where someone else's begin. Is it right to force a gay kid to go dress elsewhere? I'm sure some will say it is. But, absent any transgressions I find it hard to ban a kid from a dressing room based on sexual preference alone.

Mattie, I understand you are concerned for Ocho's safety. As a parent I get that. From what you have posted, it would seem that the only person who is concerned about this is you. Perhaps Ocho shouldn't use the high school locker room.

Kind of a follow up question on the whole thing...

Why is it OK for your kid to touch a straight 17 year old boy's butt, but not OK for him to touch a gay 17 year old boy's butt?

I would think that the touching of butts in general is not particularly appropriate... but even if one were to assume it were appropriate, wouldn't the straight boy be more bothered by it?

Tail

We are at soccer right now. The school doesn't offer a jr high team.

Of course it seems to y'all that I'm the only one with an issue. I don't think the other parents are on Cbid. And I've yet to discuss it with them. However, I don't think that would be a good idea.

... I'm sure you were naked in unsupervised locker rooms plenty of times in front of gay boys and men throughout your life, yet somehow managed to stay un-buggered.

Damn I've got to stop drinking.

... Mattie, it may seem like I'm being unsympathetic. And for the most part I am...

but it seems like you're coming into a situation that really isn't a situation, and threatening to create a problem.

When did I make a threat????

Relax Francis. I said I didn't know my play and I meant that.

I think the consensus is to forget about it.

Careful, Mattie.
Vic is making you comfortable. Next thing you know, he'll make his move.
He'll get naked and ask you to push his butt. Stuff like that.
I think it's called a scrum.

if being openly gay is an issue for you or your boys I think you need to leave the scene not them. There is nothing saying they need to stay in the closet.

I'm not saying you have less rights here, it's just you that's uncomfortable and all things being equal you will be hard pressed to insist they hide their gay homoness.

Mattie,
On a more serious note.

Seems you didn't know about the gay kid until you suggested the rough housing.
So it's probably not a big deal, else Ocho would have told you earlier.

I'd be more concerned if he had told you about the kid without you even asking because that would mean that he (Ocho) though there was a problem.
