Tax Refund = Interest-Free Loan you supplied to the guberment.

Gotta love you people... would you rather write a f***ing check this time of year? Or claim single-zero and get money back?

I like getting a nice refund, so I let them tax the sh*t out of me all year. Call it what you want... 99% of people would just blow the extra money each month anyway.

Who said anything about writing a check?
File for the extension and make the guberment wait as long as possible for their money. Last check I had to cough up to the Fed was the same as a box of cigars. Damn accountant fees are more.

Maybe I am one of self-employed 1% who does put extra money into an interest-bearing account each month, and in the end save more than I have to pay.

But some are OK with lending our guberment their hard-earned money interest-free.

I'm terrible with money.

I like getting a payout from that no interest savings account every year to help pay off the excessive credit card use around the holidays.

But, when I worked for a different company this year for 8 months they didn't pay county taxes, so my federal refund will cover that bill, with only a couple hundred left.

With how much I spend, it would probably be adventagious to claim sales tax, but it's too much work.

I remember my grandpa talking about those interest-bearing account things....can't say that I recall ever seeing one. The return on overpaid income tax in 2015 nearly out-performed S&P 500

There was one day that we used to get a little of our money back from Uncle. Those days have passed now that we get hit with the AMT (alternative minimum tax) every year.

Neither party wants to revise the AMT limits because they can claim that they aren't raising taxes when in fact the AMT that has been in place for years keeps raising taxes for more and more Americans every year.

Google it if you don't know what I'm talking about. The AMT pretty much doesn't let you claim any deductions from your taxes. 🌫 [ram27bat]

I never get a refund!

Of course, I pay a 5% tax to the Marshall Islands and don't pay anything into FIT...

So there's that.

Refunds? Uncle Sam says, "Thanks for your zero interest loan suckers." ✋

I tend to balance pretty close, with a tiny amount coming back at years end.

Which I am fine with. Hate to owe those clowns, even for a minute. They might decide to look closer. I have no secrets, but proving that is a headache I don't want..

2 kids and a recently purchased house have made our tax returns outstanding the last couple of years... With this year's "fishing gear stimulus package" I'm looking to spend $1000 on a season pass with a Sportfishing outfit in Morro Bay... Unlimited trips April 1 to December 31... Gonna be eating a lot of rock cod and ling cod tacos this year...

Come on guys where's your compassion? All that tax we pay goes to help all those with no cell phones and those Lone Star cards that people get 500 bucks worth of T bones and Sirloins and then get cash back for beer and put all this in a brand new Cadillac. If we don't help them who will. Do you really expect them to get jobs and support themselves?

With proper planning, imagine what more could be booked next year! There's a lot of other fish out there other than rock cod. A thousand bucks didn't cover a walleye expedition years ago, let alone a salmon trip while they are on the run. Not even mentioning salt-water fishing. You can get all the cod you want at the local church fish fry.

I've done a lot of fishing, and thus far rock cod/ling cod fishing is my favorite kind of fishing to do... I'm over freshwater for the most part... Rock cod tastes way, way better than any freshwater fish... I've never had any interest in catching a walleye, that's for sure... and I don't care for salmon... Overrated...

I would love to get out on a yellowtail/dolphin trip one of these days, but rock cod (which isn't actual cod) fishing is a ton of fun for me... I powder coat jigs and tie bucktails all off season and then slowly donate them to the ocean floor throughout the fishing season...
