The House Intelligence Committee ended its investigation into Russian interference during the 2016 elections, finding no evidence of collusion between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign, and disagreeing with the US Intel community's finding that the interference was motivated by Putin's intent to hurt Hillary and help Trump.

There was no effort made to address one of the initial objectives of the investigation: determine what happened and make recommendations to prevent such actions in the future.

The conclusion of the comte's work was orchestrated by the GOP majority, without notification to, or involvement by, Dem membership.

What a waste of time and money.

yet they did conclude Russian election meddling definitely happened and will continue to happen, but rushed to conclude collusion did not happen before Mueller's investigation is complete. Questionable, but understandable. No upside to waiting for the GOP.

Clearly the goal of the GOP was to find no ties to Trump. Imagine an investigation on either side with a goal? Great for us citizens.... yawn. Doesn't really matter. No influenced vote count can be produced related to false info, despite Russia feeling it is worth it ...but at least subliminal suggestion has been entered into the cbid forum-allowed parlance on the subject.

So we can now call it fact that Russia was doing it, if we can believe the GOP Committee members...that should change half the future posts here!

I'm not sure that the Russians (cons are dullards) have succeeded in interfering subliminally (cons are gullible)...wouldn't that presume that the targeted audience (cons prefer authoritarians) is engaged and aware enough (cons like dictators) to actually allow subconscious messages to sink in? They hardly seem capable of seeing stuff in front of them...

I agree it's not worth the paper it's printed on.

My very first thought was, "It's led by the GOP... dems will see nothing other than that and b*tch about it".

Thanks for proving my point, Al. And to be fair, if the dems led an investigation against their own, I'd feel the same way. It's dubious, at best.

I remember there being some bipartisanship during the Watergate investigations, and it was the GOP leadership that ultimately convinced Nixon to resign rather than put the country through the agony of an impeachment...

at one time, both the House and Senate Intel committees were considered to be the least partisan of Congressional bodies because they were responsible for national security...

This is not to say that the result should have been that Trump should be impeached...rather, there should've been a more thorough and open process instead of conducting business behind closed doors...the American public should be allowed to see and hear how the committee came to its conclusion.

I won't argue. I agree that neither side is willing to work with the other, now.

You and I are fast friends. We like and respect each other. Why is it alien to demand that our elected officials do the same?

I believe you and I would solidly support one another in forcing our respective parties be civil and discuss issues like you and I do. Maybe not with a cigar and a beer (and shots of tequila) but at least in a civil manner.

Although a cigar and a few shots may help.

I seem to recall an interview with an old-school politician who was reflecting on the time he and his colleagues from across the aisle used to spend drinking (and probably smoking cigars) together. He drew a direct correlation between that time spent and their ability to work together to get things done.

Although I’ve kept my politics to myself here, you can count me in, too.

Rushed? He was supposed to be done by the end of the year Frank.....there is no evidence of collusion. Does the unmasking that took place not strike you as partisan and very troublesome? Do you see no issue with the FISA the way it was used?

What pisses me off is people not seeing the forest through the trees.

Unmasking and the fisa process could use a good looking at. In this case I find them to be the trees rather than the forest though. Tress some want you to stare at but trees none the less. The trees have been studied pretty well and even treated like those little Benghazi trees.

The Forrest is still being explored but many wish it wasn't.
