😂 Nope, one of our tour guides said she still has a house Wasilla, but spends more time at her Arizona home. People there are so over her, I'm sure her quitting the governorship pretty much sealed her fate in Alaska.

Now that you mention it I do too, but I think it was a wave that came off the bow.

I have a fraternity brother who owns a guide company in Ketchican. He and his family live their a little more than half the year, then head back to his hometown outside of Chattanooga. They love it.

I could easily live there, though someplace farther away from people would be nice.

Sounds much better for bear hunting than living, especially considering the weather extremes on Kodiak, but I'd be will to try it for a few weeks.

Missed going on a cruise of the Inside Passage one year when the ship we were booked on ran into a rock and was damaged severely. We did a driving tour instead, visiting the Kenai Peninsula, Seward, Anchorage, Talkeetna, DeNali and Fairbanks...gorgeous area...never got totally dark in August...

I'd like to try that as well, including a drive to the arctic circle. Did you drive through Canada, take the Alaska Sea highway ferry or rent a car in Alaska?

We flew into Anchorage and rented a car. Didn't use the ferry system, but we did take a sea tour of the fjord above the Kenai Peninsula. That was the highlight of the trip...pod of orcas chasing seals, blue whales, thousands of birds, glaciers calving...

Didn't have the time, then, to drive through Canada on the Alaska Highway. This was in the early 90's, so I'm not sure if the highway was totally finished ... but it is now, and is something I'd like to do.
