Just saw a sale at my local on Quintessa 2014 (I think could be wrong on the year only glanced at it) from $225 to $175. Is this a good deal? Also would this be a good wine to save for a celebratory occasion? My taste are all over the place with wine so far but I do find that I like Merlots and Bordeaux the most but also enjoy Cabs and that is what most people like to get when I am out to dinner with them.

Thanks Speyside with any help on this, I figured this kind of price on a bottle would be good to get a more knowledgeable opinion before purchasing.

Shaun, that is a good price. That is a wine that can comfortably age about 7 years with proper cellaring. It is a left bank Bordeaux style blend. It is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petite Verdot. It is probably the 2013, if so I have seen reviews of 96 points from the advocate and 98 points from James Suckling. The advocate also states the 2013 vintage can age 20 to 25 years. I would still stick with 7 years. It definitely is a special occasion wine.

If I can, I’ll give you a reccomendation over the Quintessa.

I rep Huneeus products and the Faust is a fantastic buy. It should retail around $50.

It’s a big Cab that’s not overly tannic. I really enjoy it. And it’s about 1/4 the price of what you’re looking at.

Also give Leviathan a go if you like red blends. It should be close to $40.

Have I got a deal for you! I just happen to have a few bottles left of 1996 Harlan Estate Proprietary Red Blend. I sold a few years ago for $803/bottle at auction but will make a good deal for you. Cellared in my Vinotemp at 55 degrees since release directly from Harlan.

Duh, can't believe I missed the 14. Suckling 97 points advocate 94 points vinvino 4.6. This will drink better at a younger age than the 13. A special wine indeed. I have tasted the 14. Very complex, great noise, wonderful flavor long finish. I think it will also improve for up to 7 years.

I think that one is out of my price range even at a deal l, but I appreciate the offer.

I am a wine noob but I was thinking about grabbing something nice for to have on hand for special occasion.

Still have to make it back and see if that sale is still going. Thanks for the info Speyside it was very helpful.

Just googled your wine. The 2014 is about $175 at many places and you can save the sales tax.

last bottle of Rose from the incredible Spey hit.

2017 Villa Des Anges Old Vines Cinsault Rose France

Loved it, great as a sipper (or as the label says "warm weather gulper") and just fine with chicken, fish and tonight with a spiced up wheat pasta and veggies creation.

Thanks Allen. You got me half way through Summer.
