Good Monday Morning! It's 62° on the way to 80° today. Enjoying coffee waiting for FedEx to deliver several jugs of DEF. Zoro.com had it on sale with free shipping.

Went to a large park with a big lake this weekend with the kids. Saw a bald eagle soaring above. We watched it (never seen one before in this area). It swooped down and grabbed/ate a small duck. The kids were like "whoa, nature is cool..."

It's way cool! I've seen some stuff like that up close and personal, too. Hawks in the neighborhood, seen a bald eagle a time or two, and some turkey vultures. Lots of ducks and geese around for them to prey on.

Not to mention back in CA when Tank threw down with a coyote. 🤦

I remember that crazy story.

My 3 year old asked what happened to the baby duck. My 5 year old mouthed to me "it's dead right?" The first of many difficult conversations I am sure.

Short day. Only 9.5 hours.
Cool, sloppy day. The dreaded Mixed Bag of snow, sleet, rain, freezing rain and maybe even graupel.

Graupel (/ˈɡraʊpəl/; German: [ˈɡʁaʊpl̩]), also called soft hail, hominy snow, or snow pellets,[1] is precipitation that forms when supercooled water droplets in air are collected and freeze on falling snowflakes, forming 2–5 mm (0.08–0.20 in) balls of crisp, opaque rime.[2]

Thank you for saving me the time of looking up that word. I know I've seen it here before, but I'm old and forgetful.

had to move my sister out of the assisted living senior center because she was falling so frequently and injuring herself. She was there less than a year before they told us they are unable to provide the care she needs. They told us she could stay if we paid for a 24/7 live in aide that would be there to help her move around without falling. That would cost $650/day on top of the monthly fee of $7,200 for their regular services, for a total of $27,000/month. Outrageous!!! They suggested we find a residential care facility that could provide the type of care she needs. This was tantamount to an eviction notice.

After an extensive search in our area, we found a residential care facility near our house that provides 24/7/365 care, two care-givers on site around the clock, supervised by a former nurse. She has a private bedroom and there are only four other residents. 3 meals/day, snacks, laundry service, housecleaning, diaper service, assistance to the bathroom and bathing/showering, help getting dressed...all for less than her monthly fee at the senior center. And the primary care-givers are friendly, helpful and personable.

sister can no longer walk on her own with a walker...very little strength in her left arm and leg...spends most of the day in a transport chair and has to be pushed around...needs help getting out of, and into bed...her short-term memory is almost non-existent...breathtaking how rapidly her mental and physical health has deteriorated in the last couple of years.

So very sorry 🙏 to read. Thankfully you have found a facility that works well for her needs. Will add her to our prayers.[-o<
