Wifey bought a new flocked but fake Christmas tree in October from QVC but we're still waiting for it. We went fake about 10 years ago 'cause we were told that the (real) tree needles, if ingested, would not be good for our daughter's dog.

Franking QVC! Even after my wife talked to Customer Service two weeks ago and was told that the tree was going to be shipped, the frankers backtracked and told her today that they don’t ship for free to Hawaii so was going to charge us $100.

Wifey cancelled the order. Next stop, storage locker to bring back the old one. 🤦

still sore from this week-end putting up outdoor lights, which involves an hour or so of unwinding strings of faux icycle lights, thousands of them...bending over and replacing burned out bulbs before hanging the strings of lights up...

why do bulbs that light up inside the house during inspection fail when the strings are hung up outside under the eaves...had to lug the tall 40 lb ladder around for couple hours stringing up lights, then up and down replacing dead bulbs...

wife bought a faux lighted tree several years ago...we got tired of going to the tree farm every year and buying a fresh cut tree that always has some blemishes in appearance and usually dries out before Christmas...humidity in SoCal desert is very low in December...

fake tree is a heavy 4 piece 9 feet tall sucker...muscled the box out of the closet, slid it to the tree spot and assembled the tree...fortunately my wife has been the tree fluffer and decorator...she enjoyed doing that since she was a child...happy wife...she didn't notice when I slipped into the Man Cave with a cold beverage and a cigar...

Update, the movers came late yesterday, boxes ready to be sorted out, tow items taken to older son's house. Wife said, :OK, now I can put up the tree. 😟 Fine, I drag out the tree, get it uncovered and now she is getting all the gazzilon lights all working and starting to hang the decorations. Yay! I'm really in the Christmas sprit now. 🤥

I know that feeling, exactly, Gene...

the next bit of Christmas drudgery will be the night when my wife shows me a pile of boxes, several rolls of wrapping paper, a baggy of assorted labels and a container of colorful bows...sigh...

maybe I'll take the smaller ones into the man cave so I can sip and puff while I wrap...

just thought of something...

the artificial tree is three years old...it cost about 3 years worth of fresh cut trees...so now we'll be saving $100 or so every Christmas!

OMG, nothing makes me feel like an hapless imbecile like wrapping a Christmas package. 😣

To make it worse, my wife's packages are so nice people are reluctant to open them.😞

Nice savings! Much safer not having a highly flammable dead tree inside your home.

Luckily I do a decent job at wrapping boxes but I really suck at the ribbon part so lotta times my wife will finish off the boxes with her really nice handmade ribbons.

We finally put up our fake tree earlier this week and today put on the ornaments…but wifey said the tree looks too bare so gonna hafta bring down more boxes of stuff.

My wife has the tree decorated. She spent today wrapping presents. She uses an ironing board as a work table. I just haul out the scraps.

Tree is up and decorated. Stockings are up. Pretty much done with buying gifts. I hit all the things the kids wanted (it was like pulling teeth to have them give me their wish list) but haven't wrapped them yet. The cat will probably unwrap them before the time so that will have to wait.

I still have a couple last ones to do for some elderly friends and such. Prolly lottery tickets or cash since they say they don't need anything. This is true but not an acceptable answer for me.

My son's girlfriend has not responded on what she want's other than a nice throw blanket. I'll do that but still unacceptable. I have set aside a budget so please use it.

Gonna get each of the kids a couple tickets (each kid gets two tickets so they can take a guest plus some cash spending money) for the Blue Man Group in Boston but they need to pick a date and time. It will be an IOU until they pick a date and time.

I'm not poor, I'm not rich but I'm truly blessed to be alive and have what I have. Some are not so lucky. I like to use my expendable money to share with others that are important in my life and have an impact in my life.

As I get older I've realized that life and happiness is not about monetary things. Health, happiness, peace and comfort come from inside and from others around you, not what's in your wallet. These things are impossible to put a price tag on them.
