Stephen Stills night

Stephen Stills (self-titled debut)
Stephen Stills 2

For those that forgot or didn’t know, on the first album, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton make separate guest appearances with great guitar solos by each.

As close to Prince as we're ever gonna get with the funky skunky Minneapolis sound. Enjoy.

Stevie Wonder night:

Music of My Mind - often overshadowed by his next 3 albums, MoMM still remains my favorite from Stevie’s golden period

Talking Book - Jeff Beck and Buzzy Feiten on the same song!

Chores done. Told my wife I was gonna listen to some music. Of course she said there was more to do.

Nah, I’m done for the day.

Turned on the A/C in “my room” (…our daughter’s old bedroom…), fired up the electronics, threw in a mixed CD of live Cream. “Crossroads” blared out but knew the volume level would not be wifey acceptable so turned it down a few DBs. Set up the beach chair so that I would be in the middle of the speakers (…they’re currently perpendicular to each other…). Sat down and enjoyed EC’s guitar on the right and Jack Bruce’s bass on the left. Ginger mixed more to the right too. “N.S.U.” up next. Gonna sneakily increase the volume until either my ears hurt or wife opens the door and yells, “Too LOUD! Are you deaf?” “Huh? What? Can’t hear you”

A comp disc of my favorite Steely Dan songs from 1972 to 1980.

Only saw them once. They toured with Jesse Colin Young in 1974 and despite some “youthful activities”, from what I can remember, it was a great night.

Conan, you must have the CD set? Seems a little rare.

Is the recording decent?

I see they did four songs together. Definitely different styles. Was there any dueling or did SRV just take a back seat on the Beck tunes?

I downloaded the show many years ago when I was bitten by the bit torrent bug. The recording is okay, I’ve heard worse but the historical moment and performance(s) overrides any audio deficiencies. Not much dueling, Jeff is mostly in the back seat until “Jeff’s Boogie”. He is the obvious lead, although Stevie did throw in some 2nd lead licks.

They “dueled” more in their 1989 “The Fire and the Fury” tour but usually only during the encores.

Santana - Lotus
Japanese 2-CD release.

Have had three versions of this album: first the 1974 Japanese original 3-record set, then the US 2-CD version and finally the Japanese release. For whatever reason(s), the two releases have always been different.
