After pondering for a day, here are my Top 3 favorite movies (…in alphabetical order per the Frankie Rules…):

Casablanca - Bogey being Bogey and so many memorable scenes and lines.

Field of Dreams - just re-watched it a couple weeks ago, that 2nd to last scene with Ray and his Dad always gets me…

It’s a Wonderful Life - to me, Frank Capra’s finest film. The build up to the movie’s climax is textbook stuff.

Bubbling under the top 3 (…not in Frankie Order - sorry…):

Seven Samurai - I’mma big fan of Akira Kurosawa and Toshio Mifune, together they created epic movies but this is the one I watched repeatedly.

Schindler’s List - you can’t watch this movie and not be amazed at what Oskar Schindler did.

Wizard of Oz - been a favorite of mine for a l-o-n-g time. I remember when I watched it for the first time on a color TV set and when Dorothy opens the door and the film turns into a color movie, I was in total awe.

I only selected movies that I actually watched in a theater...the way moving pictures are intended to be experienced. Otherwise, Gladiator and Alien, movies I watched on TV, might've made the list.

Totally agree, unfortunately I no longer go to theaters much. Mighta been at least 3 years since I saw something on the big screen.

My Mom took me to see "HTWWW." For a 7-8 years old kid, it was a really l-o-n-g movie! Even had an intermission. Used to have the souvenir book but lost it years ago. And we went to the old Cinerama Theater on King Street with its really w-i-d-e screen. Dems was the days of "real" theaters, not the multi-screen places with good sized screens but nothing close to the old school movie houses.

Saw the LOTR trilogy in the theater(s). My wife is not much of a fan so went solo all three times.

i don't think I can narrow it down to top three. There are a lot out there of different flavors. B&W classics, SiFi, comedy, westerns, twisted ones, and so on.

On another note:

During COVID the local movie theater kinda closed down. They did limited movies and replays of older movies, was able to offer movie parties like birthdays and stuff as long as they didn't violate the social distancing stuff.

It's a nice theater. I think they have like 6 screens. During the COVID time, they took the opportunity to renovate the seating. They even offered drive-up where you could buy movie popcorn and snacks to take home for movies at home. Last time I was there (before COVID) it was like $40 for 4 tickets, popcorn, snacks, drinks.

They now have LazyBoy type of seats. My kids have been there and say it's awesome. Prices are still relatively inexpensive - about $8 per seat before popcorn, snacks and drinks. I haven't been there since they upgraded the seating but I suspect that with fully reclining seating, I would probably fall asleep within 30 minutes.

Unforgiven - and I generally don't care for westerns.

Jeebling, MACS, dedeyedick, I think you need to specify which Godfather. I suppose if you liked one or two or the other one you could use those as separate picks. I think Godfather II was the best of the bunch of Godfather movies. They made a documentary movie about the making of the Godfather that was pretty good.

Palama, I was able to catch Kurosawa's Seven Samurai on the big screen when I took a film studies class, he was an excellent filmmaker.

DrafterX, We just watched Idiocracy not too long ago and that is a funny but scary movie.

delta1, Training Day, pretty hard core but a good one for sure.

Brewha, Unforgiven was a good one for sure and I always got a kick out of the Mystery Science Theater.
