Huh... imagine if we got rid of income taxes and used a VAT on goods and services.

Poor people would have more money in their pockets. So would rich people. And when they spent it... they'd all pay the same percentage in taxes, with no loopholes, no shelters, no deferments... and the rich would pay more because they buy more stuff and more expensive stuff.

But that'll never do... because our politicians love to SAY tax the rich, but they're all rich and will never allow their tax breaks to be taken away.

Bonus: even illegals would have to pay it... and tourists...

i wouldnt be opposed to VAT style tax... however, even countires that use that system like Germany, also charge income tax

but to say Politicians wont allow tax ont he rich is just not true.. dems have tried several times under Biden...

According to Forbes, the wealthiest 400 people in the USA are worth a combined $5.4 trillion. The Biden politburo years ran a 2 trillion a year deficit for 4 years. If you shot the 400 richest and seized all their assets and could find buyers for all of it, you still had to borrow $2.6 trillion just to fund the Biden years!

“Tax the Rich” is a fraud pushed by the socialists to divide and conquer.

Is it a VAT or a Flat Tax you'd prefer?

A VAT is a tax that is added at every stage of production. Looking at the farmer to the table path, a farmer buys fertilizer, then seed, then sells wheat to a baker, and then the baker sells bread to a store, VAT is applied at each stage. The consumer ultimately bears the full VAT cost. That is more expensive than a Flat Tax.

The bottom half of the income strata would pay more as a percentage of income with the VAT approach.

Think of it as if everyone had the same 2,200 calorie diet, and ate healthier a healthier diet. No overly sugared or pover processed foods. Say it takes $20 a meal, three meals a day, and a snack, $60 a day. ($21,00 a year).

That amount is nothing to Hockeydad. That isn't sustainable for mR. joNEs with an icome of $25,000 a year.

A Flat Tax is more my style. HD makes $200,000 vs jONsIe @ $20,000. A straight (or gay) tax of 15% for both.

HD pays $30,000, jONsIe pays $3,000.

It is a fluid determination, like “Nazi”.

The left doesn’t want to tax the rich, they want people to think that it’s a great thing to do. For theater and fundraising.

Things don’t get fixed in DC. Symptoms are test grouped, then pleas for funding are made just prior to introducing bills that were prepped for them by their K st handlers.

I heard LEFTY's talking point is "people are going to die" because of that Big Beautiful Bill thing.
And the DOGE PACKAGE hasn't even been submitted yet.

Lyin' Comrade Hakeem Jeffries says:

The Republican Party is filled with crooks, liars and frauds.

We are seeing corruption unfold before us in real time:

– Republicans are crashing the economy, raising the cost of living and driving us toward a recession – all while playing the stock market to enrich themselves.

– They’re handing a massive tax break to their ultra-rich supporters – and using the largest cut to Medicaid in American history to pay for it.

– Donald Trump is hosting massive fundraisers to cement his power and buy another MAGA House majority – all to cater to his billionaire donors.

It's funny how he didn't see the corruption in the Joey B. regime. 🤔

Comrade AOC, as she does her usual screaming about OLIGARCHY, said:

Republicans gutted Medicaid while you were asleep last night.

In the middle of the night, Republicans voted to kick 13.7 million Americans off their healthcare and stole food assistance from 11 million people in need to give tax cuts to billionaires:

'Call This What It Is—Theft': Republicans Approve Largest Medicaid, SNAP Cuts in US History

The problem with “Tax the Rich” is people hear “Raise taxes on anyone and everyone who makes more money than me or has more money than me.” That is why we have to define “The Rich” to discuss how to seize their money.

no no... The real problem with "Tax the Rich" is that they have bought and paid for influence on lawmakers and govmut. Some have pull with the media or out rightly own it - so that us regular folks have been sold on the idea that if a Rich Man pays no tax, he is "smart" and we should emulate him. Some of us would tell you that any time a Rich Man gets a tax break, it makes us all better off (cause we will believe anything).

To you point, prolly part of the working definition of 'Rich" would be that they pay little or no taxes....

Finding that number could be tough... 150k in Oklahoma is a decent income but in California it's prolly what it takes to survive... 😟
