Yeah, you're right Rick, Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction... Just ask the relatives of the hundereds of thousands of dead Kurds... Ever hear this one? "Absense of evidence is not evidence of absence..."

no, but i kind of like it. i wonder how it will affect the outcome (pardon the pun) of kobe's trial to be.

Oh there's plenty of evidence in Kobe's trial. "DNA", torn cloths, a witnesses right after it happened seeing her crying, disheveled, and bruised claiming to have been sexually assaulted. If this doesn't fly, then no woman should ever be able to convict any man of rape unless someone actually walks in and see it. And even then, she was asking for it, right? Suppose it was one of your relatives? Your mother? Your sister? Your daughter? A close personal friend? Could you imagine the humiliation in hearing that she was a slut and asking for it? You have no evidence that Mosses parted the red sea, but you probably believe it?

let's start with moses and work backwords.

first does the fact that i am jewish mean i believe the story. would you have asked that question if it were known that i was catholic?

i do not believe moses "parted" the red sea. after reading everything i could about the "parting" i believe he led the jews through a muddy part of the red sea where they could walk and the chariots got mired down and could not follow. i believe the original story changed as it was pased from generation to generatio and embelished the story each time until it becomes a "miracle."

now we can get to your "information" about kobe.

dramatizing it by asking what if it was my mother, sister, whatever, is an appeal to emotions and is irrelevant as regards the truth of what happenned. sort of like the administration crying wolf and getting something like the patriot act passed, pretty much overturning part of the constitution, because of fear generated by lying scoundrels. but that is for another day.

you say "there's plenty of evidence in Kobe's trial. "DNA", torn cloths, a witnesses right after it happened seeing her crying disheveled, and bruised claiming to have been sexually assaulted." that is what the media says, not what evidence might be there.

"if you can't trust the media, who can you trust" trust your mother who told you not to go swimming right after you ate.

when i watch someone speak followed by some media folks explaining what i just heard, i hit the mute. i was there. i heard what he or she said. i understand the language. talking heads are not unlike charlie macarthy and mortimer snerd, dummies.

we interpet what we read or hear about the kobe incident as we filter it through our experiences.

is this another "ox bow incident?" you can think and feel whatever you want, but lets not hang him until and if he is convicted or found not guilty.

Yo Rick: It dosen't matter to me if your Jewish, Catholic, or Frizzbetalion you and Robby are both wrong ! It was Charlton Heston who parted the Red Sea. He did it because he needed a short cut to Rome, something about a chariot race and he was running late. Robby I do like that saying " absence of evidence is not evidence of absence ", cool. JonR

my question remains, how can any man ever be convicted of sexually assualting ANY woman? After all, the slut was asking for it, right? And yes, even if it was a close personal friend of yours or a relation, she had it coming, right??? Right? I mean, it's the slut's word against the guy or guys who she got all worked up?

OK I must have missed it how does the dumb picture of the big nosed Presidents have any thing to do with Kobe(I am named after a meat) Bryant. Hey if he is guilty he will be found so by a jury of his peers. It works great look at the O.J. Trial, he must be innocent.

Robby has an obsession about Kobe. He doesnt know 'Jack' about it except what the media provides, which is hype to sell newspapers and get ratings for talk shows...no matter what you think Robby, he is innocent until proven guilty. Dont like the system?...vote to change it or LEAVE!

When these things happen, all kinds of people usually come out of the woodwork, trying to cash in on their experience. There has been none of that so far. How can that be?

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Innocent until proven guilty, its the law. I guess Robby only respects laws when it fits his theory...too bad...

I guess my view on this is a little harsh on Robby, sorry. But I'm tired of the lack of respect for the justice system. Its not perfect, but its the fairest in the world. I'm waiting for the results of the trial if there is one, sorry...

heh, I'm just a little confused about the Kobe defenders. And all of the sanctimonious comments initially about he couldn't possibly have done it, and it's his word against hers. If you follow that logic to its ultimate conclusion, "his word against hers" then you seriously could never convict any man of raping any woman. Is this right? Should we simply write that one off the books and say the issue is just too difficult to prove? That any woman who accuses an attacker of sexual assault, could have on the other hand been asking for it? I just don't get it... And I don't think that just because someone is rich and powerful that they are incapable of such a crime. On the contrary, these people (young start athletes) have been coddled all of their lives. They are shepparded through college with basket weaving courses and private tutors, they're typically given a free pass by our legal system (Ray Bryant ring a bell? Was that his name? The Ravens thug who stabbed some poor guy to death in Atlanta before the super bowel a couple of years ago?). They really live in a fantasy world where they have handlers who cater to their whim. They are used to people bowing and scrapping for them. So in my opinion, again, I think this mind set would make this young man more likely, not less likely to have committed this crime. Especially if something started, and then she said "enough". What would his response be? Like hell enough! Bend over!! He's a man who's used to getting his way... Well see what comes out in the wash, we saw OJ get off and we all know he killed his wife and Ron. Cut them to bits. I'm confident this guy will get off, but I'm not confident he didn't do what he's accused of... And it’s a sad commentary on our society.

Robby, it was Ray Lewis and no one ever accused him of being the one(s) with the knife. Did he know more than he told? You betcha! And if I am ever accused of a crime I'm going to get the best lawyers that I can afford, too. The fact that your prosecutors were completely inept was a big help, as well.
And thank you for allowing me to treadjack a threadjack. It was an opportunity that I couldn't pass up. lol

The overwhelming majority of professional athletes are guys who've had a fuss made over them all their lives. Everywhere they've gone, the skids have been greased and the rules bent to facilitate their way through life. The message, whether spoken outloud or not, is clear ... you're special, you're above the rules, just go gettem and win, baby win. Not all professional athletes abuse this 'favored son' status, but a great many do, even if only in small things.

Professional athletes attract a huge following ... there are a simply staggering number of really attractive women who almost literally fling themselves at anything in a jock strap. If you've never seen them perched in the lobbies, restaurants and bars of the team hotels, around the players entrance, and the hallways outside locker rooms at the stadiums and arenas, you cannot imagine what the scene is like ...

From what I understand, there is no question that this young woman presented herself to Kobe and willingly accompanied him to his room ... there is no apparent question about what they did while there ...

So, his word vs hers ... or hers vs. his ? ... well, while there were no eye witnesses, there apparently WERE 'ear-witnesses' ... perhaps the trial will shed more light on what really went on than we, who have little more than hunches to go on, might imagine.

I'm not going to be surprised by any outcome ... because I am certain we could learn she was no more than a gold-digger crying foul, or that he was a spoiled young man accustomed to having everything go his way that was suddenly and surprisingly told 'no' then couldn't accept that ...

I know it could come as a burst-bubble to the naive, but there are plenty of cases of each that occur every day in professional sports ...
