there is some VERY good news to report, and i'm hoping one of us will get the details posted here within the next day or so. one cbidder's efforts in OpFTH actually brought tears to my eyes when i heard about what he was able to accomplish. i am absolutely humbled by this young man's efforts, and there are going to be some very, very warm Marine hearts when that package gets to them.

i never want to hear another complaint about slacker college students after this!!!

have yet to hear from our guy, 1stSgtSmoke (mike), but i'm sure i'll hear from his or mrs.smoke as soon as there is news. it takes about six weeks for packages from the USA to get to them.

Good News!!!

I shipped my donations from UT Martin last week. The combined weight of the boxes was 270 pounds! The department I work for paid the $270 shipping cost.

More Good News!!!

We sent a little over 700 cards/letters/drawings. The drawings(about 75) came from a church youth group who heard of our efforts. The letters/cards came from college students at UT Martin.

I am posting this not for bragging rights but to encourage others. My original goal was 200 letters/cards. Once I started spreading the word, this project took off and far surpassed my wildest goals. Anyone can do it and it does not require a huge time commitment.

I'll post pictures later in the week. Thanks to all those who helped organize this operation. I was happy to be a part of it. Thanks again.

We are running all over Fallujah as I write this, I just had to stop in and send off a quick thank you.

HUGE shipment of cigars received today, from Ga. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And one from a fellow Ridge runner/Mountaineer.

I've called all the platoon sergeants together and read them the letters enclosed. I put Michael Ladd's picture up in our COC, with our CBID threads that I have printed off CBID. Please send me the email addresses of all involved in this most effective morale boosting campaign of yours. I'm going to try my very best to get some digital pictures sent out within the week. It's a little tougher here due to the limited baud rate, but I'll attempt to "get er done".

The cigars arrived in fantastic condition. They will be enjoyed and came as I was down to my last cigar. The Gunny was actually asking me if I was attempting to save that last stick of mine for a special occasion. Every day you wake up over here is a special occasion.

I honestly can not convey the gratitude I feel towards all the outstanding Americans who have supplied a little love for these young fighting men so far from home. Letters will be sent to all those involved that forward addresses. The Marines have insisted on sending thank you letters. The expressly ask that I inform all those involved that "you guys rock", they didn't think the old 1stSgt would understand that verbiage, but I'm all over it. ha ha

When the Polaroid film arrives I'll send pictures right out. If you can scan them, please feel free to put them up. Also received a package from Parkersburg WV, I was born and raised in White Sulphur Springs WV. That package had some really nice smokes in it too. Michael Ladd sent some Buccaneers and said I should try them. Consider it done, tonight with a good cup of Java.

I love you guys, your all awesome. When my Marines go out to patrol in harms way they never have to wonder whether or not they have the backing of the American people, thanks to Patriots like you.
