Wifey bought a new flocked but fake Christmas tree in October from QVC but we're still waiting for it. We went fake about 10 years ago 'cause we were told that the (real) tree needles, if ingested, would not be good for our daughter's dog.

Opened this and saw busa at the top for a second I thought he returned.

I've never had a real tree. Never been to someone's house with a real tree either.

Wife put ours up on Thanksgiving. I always said no Christmas decor until December. She keeps pushing it up and would put that damn tree up on labor day. Problem is now the boy is big enough to help her carry it up from the basement so I cant control it anymore. The boy has a Charlie brown tree in his bedroom along with a few strings of lights and light up lawn decorations.

Christmas lights went up before Thanksgiving too for weather reasons. But they didn't get turned on until after Thanksgiving.

Until today it’s been constant rain / wetness on our side of the island for nearly two weeks straight so finally put up some lights this morning. Got more to do but Championship Weekend is too good to miss.

sorry to hear your weather’s been so crappy my friend. Yes when I got home From The Lounge yesterday my wife had our tree up. And yes, it’s a fake tree however we have always had a real tree ever since we were married. So I would say for roughly 37 of our 42 years we’ve had real trees most times going to a tree farm, selecting and cutting one ourselves.

Put the tree up today but it only has lights on it. We'll decorate it this week.

I was always a real tree guy until the past couple years. Even did the living tree thing once. Why kill a tree for decoration? I'll buy a living tree with a root ball then it plant it after Christmas is over.

FAIL. Try to dig a hole in the ground to plant a tree in the northern latitudes in January - it's not happening. It sounded good but I didn't think it through.

I gave up on the real tree thing when I accepted the fact that it's a PIA and a chore. $100 or more each year for a dead tree, gotta go pick one out, drag it in and set it up, need to water it twice a day. Then the shedding of needles. Them things are in the carpet all year long no matter how often you vacuum.

I do miss the smell of a pine tree in the house though.. and putting one in the fire pit... them things light up like a torch.

We were going to go pick and cut our tree today but rain delay until next week. For us it's about tradition. Every year my wife and I and my parents and my two sister's families all go to the tree farm together, drink hot chocolate, and select our trees. We love the smell of the real tree but mostly it's about everybody getting together for a Christmas tradition.

Usually we are late getting the tree up, this year it went up on black Friday. My mother-in-law is in her final days and my wife wanted to give are a chance to see some decorations before she's gone.

Keeping up family tradition is important and sometimes underrated.
