Nice to see some jazz getting some love. This is an amazing thread. Some insanely good music on here from across the whole of music.

"Musically better than anything listed so far....."

Sorry I didn't mean to sound arrogant. I love many of the albums listed but for my money the above jazz albumns and others in the field are so incredible, there is not much to compare at least within the broader context of "modern music"(that is unless you are talking about classical forms from someone like George Gershwin, Dmitri Shostakovich etc. ).
Best
Q

PS Now if we are talking fussion:
Al Dimeola, Dixie Dregs, Mah. Orch.,Return to Forever etc... there are some real interesting bands.
Or the blues, now do not get me started lol.

You'll laugh, but I used to love Herbie Mann's Memphis Underground.
This is prolly considered "pop" jazz, something for the masses.
I are a "mass," I guess. LOL.

#62...I've been spinning this all day.

I can see how this made someone's list.

Very nice.

SRV and Carlos would be smiling on "High Head Blues"

as far as jazz, i think hank mobley's "workout!" definitely belongs in the G.O.A.T lists. if you havent heard, you should, especially the jazz messengers fans out there.

How about

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band album, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken"

What a great album, a tribute to country music by NGDB.

BW..check out "Tumbleweed Connection".

If you like Elton John...you gotta like Bernie Taupin!

Without Bernie...Elton kinda flounders.

EJ was one of the better live shows I've seen. I really like all of his early stuff.

I saw them before...They were a warm up band for Warren Zevon.

I don't think they're together anymore though.

^Broke up long ago, split into 2 bands, Wilco and Sunvolt. I enjoy the kinda different sound of the music......

"Uncle Tupelo's sound was unlike popular country music of the time, drawing inspiration from styles as diverse as the hardcore punk of The Minutemen and the country instrumentation and harmony of the Carter Family and Hank Williams. Farrar and Tweedy lyrics frequently referenced Middle America and the working class of Belleville."
