I was informed that this is a Cherry Headed Amazon, but I am aware of no such Amazon. There is a CherryHead Conure, but this, to me, looks more like a Red Lored Amazon. But she doesn't have the yellow that the Red Lored Amazon's have on the face. What do you guys think?

Listed as a Red-Spectacled Amazon. I'm not sure if that's the same as a Mexican Red Head or not. Does you Amazon have any blue or violet on the back of it's head behind the red?

My wife and I think that it's a Red Lored. You can see the little patch violet on the back of it's head.

the bird doesn't look very young. if it bites take it back, it won't get any better, unless you have lots of experience with parrots.

remember parrots don't find that many seeds in the jungles, so they scavenge for fruit or vegetables or meat from some dead bird. they like cooked chicken,and they can eat a chicken leg bone, but never raw. corn on the cob gives them something to eat and play with at the same time. get a good mixture of seed also, something like kaytee and fresh water every day.

if you live near eucalyptus trees, cut some pieces of different thickness about 4 or 5 inches long. the birds like to chew.

i took the best guess according to the web site i refered to. sometimes these birds are called different things by different people. i just hope they didn't get some wild bird that will not give them the pleasure they were hoping for.

It's an Amazon for sure. I'm not sure which one though. My lilac crown amazon has the same body. Mine is a deeper green and lilac colored forehead.

I've got more pics if that would help. Her wing feathers below the green ones are beautiful. They are red and black for the most part. I was wanting to ID her so I am sure to feed her properly.

She was skiddish at the store, but has really opened up. She is getting much much better with handling, in fact, there are no problems really. She tries to nibble, not kiss, if she is not in the mood, but has not yet bit hard.

She likes my 5 year old, she bows her head to be pet by the kids. I am very happy with how well she has adjusted. Thanks for all th helps guys, I'll do some more reading. I will also try and get a pic of her back feathers and wing feathers if that may help. I knew we had some bird lovers here so I wanted to ask you all.
