Gotcha on Ashton; not surprising. Loved Baez calling him out. Baez has been practicing for 8 years??????? Holy sh*t! You're lucky to try a small civil case in that timeframe..... Extraordinary. That may explain the overpromising in closing argument, but I thought the fact the prosecution couldn't reference it mitiged the omission greatly. Maybe the deck was so stacked against her that the opening argument may benefit her... Nancy Grace thought (wrongly) that there could be no reference to the drowning, but there was plenty of evidence that could be argued on that point. Great info, Robert. BTW, surprised to see that your courthouse has 23 floors. Is that usual -- a converted office building? We don't have one more than 8 floors......

Perry is a hard ass and will be perceived by the public as a great judge. I saw nothing that distinguished him. He displayed no understanding of what the lawyers were going through. We call it black robe syndrome.....

Hard ass? I disagree. He never had control of the attorneys. He should have done what he did yesterday weeks to months ago. Obviously, he can't throw Cassey's attorney, Baez, out. That would likely be an automatic reversal.

Judge Perry has been the Administrative Judge virtually his entire career on the bench. I think he only does things like adoptions and uncontested probate. He seems to covers here and there some day, for absent Judges whose dockets are not in trial. My last direct experience with him over 10 years ago, was an ex-parte hearing where a bunch of busy lawyers waited outside the hearing room for a good 10 minutes while he talked about his social life with an old friend.

On the other hand he has fulfilled one important role of the Administrative Judge: He acts quickly to put misbehaving judges on paid leave, before charges are even public, while they wait to get their Judicial Hearing- and then throwing them under the bus real fast.

It was just completed, brand new, about 10-15 years ago. Before then, we had several different downtown courthouse and the PD and Prosecutors where in separate buildings 2-3 blocks apart. Now, everything is located in the courthouse's plaza, which has two other tall office buildings. (Maybe that is why our filing fee is $400?) Where are you at?

CT, which means I go to courthouses in Hartford, Stamford, Middletown, Waterbury, New Haven, Bridgeport, Putnam, etc. Most cases I have are in Stamford, which is in Fairfield County -- right outside NYC; we call it the Gold Coast. That is about an hour from south of where I live. The Monday motion's calendar is called at 9:30 am, which means I leave my house at 6:45 am to get there in traffic......

^yup, but the courhouse was build 4 years ago and is awesome. Free parking; courtrooms ready for electonic presentations and rooms for lawyers to prepare. The only complaint I have is the lack of food or water allowed. I've had granola bars confiscated many times. That aside, we have great courthouse in Stamford.

Same technology capability here too. Not even a cafeteria?

No, amazingly. CT has contracted with the institute for the seeing impaired to provide food in the Courthouses. You order from a limited menu and call out the price. These challenged folks there do an amazing job, but it doesn't work with the time constraints. The "cafeteria" is a 6 by 6 room and the selection is extremely limited (I'm a vegetarian). There is a Marshall sitting outsdide, and you cannot bring anything out. Usually, your opposing cousel is sitting a foot or two away if you go there......

Somewhere within the first 10 minutes of the show I predict her head will spin 360 degrees and pea soup will spray out her mouth.

One of the alternate jurors just called into the local news channel (WESH- watch it live-stream) quite clearly has the best lawyer/judge/commentators.

The Alternate said that it would have been a very easy decision had he been an alternate. George Anthony's likely untruthfulness (the affair with"River Cruise") and his combativeness and attitude on the stand destroyed his credibility about everything.

Listen to whatever Judge Eaton says. As ugly and folksy speaking he is, he is and as always been outstanding.

I haven't seen Judge Eaton on any of the national channels. I love Nancy Grace's attack on the fact that the defense team celebrated the victory.... Vile woman, she is.

^Nope. Remain human and believable. Big difference. Get pissed and take offense when appropriate -- jurors expect that and will find anything else odd. By way of example, I found George odd because of his perfect tan, shock of gray hair, dark brown eyebrows, etc. He seems self-involved in an bizarre way.

Because of this thread I just turned on her show for around 3 minutes for the first time ever. She appears to be near suicide, head down, talking in a monotone voice, near tears about the total injustice to Dr. Drew like a live on tv counseling session.
