consider....

#1 The top 1 percent of all income earners already pay 39.5 percent of all federal income taxes.

#2 When you take all forms of federal taxation into account, the top 1 percent of all income earners pay 28.1 percent of all federal taxes.

#3 The top 20 percent of all income earners in the United States pay approximately 86 percent of all federal income taxes.

#4 One recent poll found that 64 percent of Americans are in favor of raising taxes on those that make $250,000 or more a year in order to help balance the federal budget deficit. Another recent poll found that 72 percent of Americans favor raising taxes on those making $250,000 or more a year.

#5 Approximately 45 percent of all U.S. households pay absolutely no income taxes at all.

#6 Overall, U.S. households are now receiving more income from the U.S. government than they are paying to the government in taxes. This is clearly not anywhere close to sustainable.

#7 During 2010, the U.S. government paid out a combined $2.3 trillion in unemployment benefits, Social Security benefits, disability insurance, Medicare benefits, Medicaid benefits, benefits for veterans, education assistance and other direct transfers of cash from the government to individual citizens.

#8 59 percent of all Americans now receive a government payout of one form or another.

You're right.....until everyone pays equal taxes and has "skin in the game".....class warfare will always be the name of the game.I cannot for the life of me figure out why so many are opposed to the flat tax or even Herman Cain's 999 plan.Oh yea.....then that 54% stop getting their Robin Hood checks.

My personal opinion is you should not be able to vote if you do not own property or pay taxes. Why should anyone who's only looking for a handout have a say in their gubmint,

Why does congress vote on it's own pay raises and benefits. The people should decide this.....now to find a congressman with the balls to pen the bill AND find support to pass it......Yea I know....DREAM ON

“The Poor” according to our guvmet is a family of four with an income of $22,350 a year, or less. That would be something less than $15.30 a day per person. Oddly this is about what Wheel spends on lunch (with a 5-1/2 % tip – lets face it, tipping only encourages the poor to stay poor).

It’s got to gall you to see the “poor” people getting over on us. Hell they don’t even do a good job edging the lawn and clean out our flower beds. “Working” as a short order cook when they have a family? Where is their sense of responsibility?

We all know the poor are poor because they are lazy. Anyone of them could be a doctor, or a millionaire, or both. But they would rather spend their time hitting us up for food stamps, guzzling ‘Night Train’, and laughing at us for working so hard.

I’m all in! Let’s get these slobs to pay their fair share. And if they got no money, we should make them shine shoes at the airport or clean the bathrooms.

^ well most of the homes I'm in daily with "poor" people have cable, big screen, smoke cigarettes.....and when I see people with their "poor people" debit cards their shopping carts are full of frozen meals, boxed crap and cases of soda pop.

Im tired of twenty/thirty somethings on disability that have medical marijuana cards and are perfectly able to work.

Broad brushes don't work here boss but the system is broke and the teat party of the poor has to be reworked. Fraud is rampant and this hurts cart pullers and those who truly need assistance.

Really, you didn't realize that?

How do you make a contribution to reduce the debt?

There are two ways for you to make a contribution to reduce the debt:

* You can make a contribution online either by credit card, checking or savings account at Pay.gov
* You can write a check payable to the Bureau of the Public Debt, and in the memo section, notate that it's a Gift to reduce the Debt Held by the Public. Mail your check to:

Attn Dept G
Bureau of the Public Debt
