Oh, and by the way, the 8% pay cut was ordered by a judge overseeing Hostess' attempt to reorganize under bankruptcy. Remember that. A bankruptcy court judge ordered the pay cut, not Hostess management, but I'm sure there will be union spin painting Hostess as big, bad and greedy.

Oh, one more thing. America has spoken. 52% of voters believe that failing companies should to be bailed out with taxpayer money. Why oh why didn't our president listen?

This is truly sad.
Not just because the twinkie has gone way of the dodo. But because of the reasoning employed by the union.

Early on, the plant closing sounded like a scare tactic. But once the court ordered the 8% cut, the union should have worked within the guidelines.

Worse, however, are the sound bites from several of the union members.
Saying things like "it just isn't fair that they expect us to take a pay cut." When told that the pay cut was necessary because the company simply didn't have the money to pay them, the reply was "I don't care about that. I just think it's wrong that they won't pay us."

The union mentality has become almost like a cult. Members are programmed rather than educated. This is a sad situation and the timing couldn't be worse. Which makes the union decision all the more revolting.
