Time nominates Sandra Fluke for ‘Person of the Year’

Time has nominated the new face of birth control as their “Person of the Year 2012.”

Sandra Fluke — the recently graduated 31-year-old Georgetown law student who rose to prominence this year after she advocated for free-birth control before Congress and radio host Rush Limbaugh called her a “slut” — is now one of 40 nominations for Time Magazine’s annual honor.

Fluke and Limbaugh became part of the story line in the so-called Republican “war on women” and she went on to become a Barack Obama campaign surrogate.

The newly minted lawyer secured a Democratic National Convention speaking slot, and spent much of the campaign discussing issues that assisted in Obama’s significant margin of victory among single women voters.

She is joined on Time’s candidate list by 2008 Person of the Year President Obama, former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, 1992′s Man of the Year and former President Bill Clinton, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu among others.

While Time editors will choose the Person of the Year, people can vote on the selections. Voting closes on Dec. 12 and the winner will be announced on Dec. 14.

Last year, Time’s Person of the Year was “the protester,” in 2010 they selected Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and in 2009 Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke received the honor.

She is a despicable child of the entitlement generation.
The media used her to paint conservatives as being anti-women even though this subject has zero relevance toward that end. The issue of who pays for female contraception is not about gender equality or a right to control the reproductive capacity, yet that's how most of the liberals perceived it and then perpetuated it.

So, yes. She had an impact on America 2012.
But her nominiation will not be met with indifference or with deserved notoriety.
Rather, she will be praised by the media and the liberal lemmings who failed to comprehend what the term "access" means when dealing with contraception.

Well if they start putting sluts on the cover that could improve readership.

Maybe the come dumpster can now afford her own birth control.
One could only hope she doesn't reproduce.

Tailgater, as I recall you consider your heartfelt opinions as 'truth'. So by that standard, how could your angst driven posting be untrue?

Remember; anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering, and suffering leads to Bipolar paranoia with a side of OxyContin.

It's true only in it's omission of additional information.

At the basest level, you're correct that the discussion over payment for contraceptives has nothing to do with a "war on women".

However, you fail to paint the picture accurately when you try to claim that the entire thing was democrats trying to paint conservatives (who just wanted to civilly maintain that payment for birth control isn't a right) as anti-women.

The reality is that what should be a civil discussion turned into a "war on women" when a random female who wanted to have her birth control covered was suddenly depicted as a whore (see short-buses comment above, claiming a random woman he's never met is a "come dumpster").

She didn't do anything great, I agree. She became a lighting rod for a lot of stupid people to say stupid things they didn't know anything about. That's what gained the headlines.

She is a lightweight. She didn't do anything... she didn't NEED to do anything, the idiots around her kept doing stuff.
