this should make great fodder

Obama says "Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago," in his first live comments on the court case.

Fodder???? It WAS he who helped escalate this to what it became and YOU KNOW IT!!! If I had a son he'd look just like Treyvon.....I'm mean seriously WTF does that even mean??? He and YOU should be ashamed of yourselves for trying to turn this into something other than WHAT IT IS an unfortunate death of a young black man who made the wrong choices. And this remark is nothing more than race baiters trying to keep an otherwise mute issue alive. I must say to be completely honest....none of Barry's behavior surprises me in the least

Hell, check the wikipedia article and there are witnesses saying Z was on top of T. Some of the accounts suggest his actions were less than responsible, and ultimately led to someone being dead. That's essentially the definition of manslaughter.

What witness? I'm not sure that is entirely factual that wikipedia is stating that. It can't be manslaughter if one is in compliance with the state law on self defense.

I'm surprised (not really) that everyone is offended that some people wanted there to be a trial to determine innocence.

Wikipedia has a couple witnesses. I am sure that page has been edited back and forth by people on either side of the fence enough that it is approximating truth. I am bored right now, but not bored enough to read court documents. And actually, some states have an "imperfect self defense" manslaughter, essentially saying "you probably didn't need to use lethal force there"... Don't know if florida has it.

How is it politically motivated?
I get motivated. I don't see a real win for any politicians, other than distraction.

And honestly, I didn't care and still don't care about the trial or the outcome. I find the gloating and joy some people are getting from an outcome they are not in any way impacted by unsavory.

HD, I have no doubt that things got blown up out of control, but seriously... even if a witness claims trayvon was sitting on z's head, I'd suggest there should be a bit more inquiry. Lethal force against an unarmed man resulting in death is a cause for inquiry. Hell, check the wikipedia article and there are witnesses saying Z was on top of T. Some of the accounts suggest his actions were less than responsible, and ultimately led to someone being dead. That's essentially the definition of manslaughter.

Again, I'm not disputing the decision. I don't even care. I'm surprised (not really) that everyone is offended that some people wanted there to be a trial to determine innocence.

victor809 wrote:

Yet the prosecution didn't present these witnesses? Why? Do you really think that witnesses actually saw Z on top, took the time to write about it in Wikipedia, yet wouldn't testify for the prosecution? Come on dude, you're smarter then this.

In even further news a bunch of fat cigar smoking blowhards will selectively hang on the words of any idiot as long as in the moment it fits their agenda, ignoring the 98.7% of the time said idiot says things even the blowhards find stupid.
