You lucky bastid!!!

I always wanted to visit the French wine country...
I only skirted thru the French countryside in the Dijon mustard region for half a day...it was beautiful...now I know why Van Gogh loved that area...

Mauricio Lorca 2020 Angel’s Selection Cabernet Sauvignon more tannins than the 2022 selection and less of the berry flavors. I like the 2022 better.

F. Stephen Miller 2022 Angel’s Reserve Pinot Noir Lodi

I don’t know if Lodi is really part of the name or if it is just an indication of where the vineyard is located.

Good. I liked it just fine, especially for a Pinot. I’m reluctant to say this but…I noticed a strong scent of burned sugar with vanilla behind the normal fruity wine scent. I’m certain that I’ve never experienced this before. The burned sugar didn’t translate to flavors but it was an enjoyable bottle of wine.

^ The burnt vanilla nose comes from heat damage to the wine. The vanilla means the oak used in the barrels was from 1 of 2 forrests in France. Allier or Ronciers.

Excellent feedback and I appreciate it. Is this a case of a wine noob with a vulgar palate and drink chit wine but thinking it is good? It isn’t my favorite wine but I did think it was pretty good. Also, could this mean that it was a really hot year for that growing season?

The wine was heat damaged after being bottled and corked. The temperature was above 80 degrees for a period of time. Red grapes grown in to hot of a climate gain a vegital taste. The most noticeable flavor is green pepper. Also heat damaged wine gains a jammyness. Oh, Lodi on the label means the grapes were grown in the Lodi AVA.

Thank you, Robert. That is interesting and learning things like this adds to the enjoyment of sipping the wine.

^ As to an earlier question of yours that I just noticed, always smoke a connecticut with champagne. Note that it should not be ROT. The mellow smoothness pairs well with champagne.

I know the name could not possibly be that long, but that’s what is on the bottle. It satisfied me.
