The Religious Freedom law needs to be repealed. This law allows for discrimination. There is a reason for separation of church and state. Here is a classic example of why.

Here's one were NOT going to agree on. Our governor simply refuses to allow them to become a " protected class "
So you think it's okay that these people are allowed to sue a company out of business because they're religious beliefs will NOT ALLOW them to "assist " in performing a wedding for two men or women??? How in the hell do their rights trump the others???? We cannot and should not be legislating protections for " hurt feelings " This IS nothing more than our courts being used to put one groups beliefs and rights over anothers....period. Let the free market determine which businesses will survive and which will die when the smoke clears. FREEDOM OF CHOICE....they are free to seek out a business who sees the world their way, the businesses are free to risk going out of business if it backfires. In the case of the florist who was sued and ultimately closed her doors because she couldn't afford the legal fight to save her business, she served that client faithfully for over NINE years, it was only when asked to provide flowers for the fruitcakes wedding that she stated her religion would not allow for that....all he had to do was seek out another business who didn't have any religious foundation and EVERYONE's GAY.....er happy. But NO 🤦


Shame on our Mayor who only cares about the possibility of lost revenue.....and not business owners rights.

So Drafter, you would be OK with a business refusing service to an American indian who follows Pagan beliefs?This could happen under this law though I doubt it would.

TMCTL, while I respect your opinion I do disagree. I do not see this as about protected class. This is more big picture to me. Perhaps insurance companies will refuse medical treatment on Sundays because it is the Sabbath. Far fetched, yes, possible under this law, yes.

If it isn't about race, a business owner should be able to refuse any customer, do we want to force;

A publisher to print books for NAMBLA or even porn

A gun dealer to sell guns to skin heads, religious nuts

A liquor store to sell to a drunk person

Come on Man, that's ridiculous, that ****e has nothing to do with religious beliefs. It has everything to do with not liking a certain group of people and hiding behind religion to justify your hate. It is no different than the ****e said back during segregation times about not wanting to serve black people. Our country needs to evolve not devolve when it comes to issues like this.

Please show me where this federal law has produced instances of descrimination. You won't it was rhetorical.

Let me show you where the law hasn't been upheld. A Portland Oregon baker got ran out of business by a couple that felt denied their tight to a cake...this also happened in Colorado.

You do realize separation is the state not establishing a church, they actually have an obligation to protect our freedom to worship.

I fully support citizens (and businesses) right to free association. If someone wants to be a bigoted business I support that, they want to put up pictures of Hitler? Go for it.
Americans won't support such businesses.

Force and coercion is what our government has become due to people leveraging politicians into goring other people's sacred cow. Amerika has been divided because people support using the State in this manner.

Z, so you are OK with a corporation being considered an individual? Separation of church and state, and the first amendment are 2 desperate entities. You are quoting the 1st amendment. Thomas Jefferson first spoke of the separation of church and state. It has no legal standing.

I am fine with individuals discriminating. I am not fine with giving corporations the right to discriminate. I think this opens a loophole to increase profits.

So I am taking the unpopular point of view.

Z, I do not see it that way. I have no problem with business owners running their businesses as they see fit to. My problem with the law is I see it as a loophole for large corporations to discriminate based on profit margin disguised as Religious Freedom. Also I stated that my opinion was the unpopular one, only in reference to stir the pot or commie pinko.
