correct. the constitution uses the word "inalienable" rights. that means they can't be taken unless you have an evil doer like ashcroft who has ursurped the constitutional "inalienable" right.

Rick, The interesting part is the fact that our gun rights were based on the early laws of England, where it's not legal to own a hand gun and other guns are regulated to the point where it's not worth the trouble. And your right, coffee and a Long cigar. I still haven't read all of it, but that's what the favorites mark is for. boB

Robert - That was a good, albeit long, read. I found it very interesting and informative, and I also have ahankering to buy another handgun so its applicable.

Anyone have and thoughts on the Sig p226 in 357 SIG caliber? I love Sig and have the p220 .45, but want another and I'm unsure between the 9mm and the 357 SIG.

Sure Gun Control

I belong to Sportman Club, we do Bow, pistols, rifle, my only indulgence is Black Powder, there is about 25 of use each Sunday shoot for six inch target, one inch bulls eye at 50 yards, with inaccurate percussion cap black powder civil war rifle. Sure I want gun control of the automatic weapons, but, raking away hand guns will not solve crime.

You already have a handgun with some serious stopping power, I would go with the 9mm or a .40 for some fun fast accurate shooting on the range. The .357 is more of a revolver round in my opinion, you get a nice 6" barrel S&W and you got yourself a mini-sniper. Gotta luv all the Sigs though...did you know if get the ones made here in the states (SIGARMS) you save some $$$?

Culley, We have gun control on automatic wepons, you need a permit from the government to own one. Or did you meen SEMI-automatic wepons? If thats the case then you need to read about some problems in England related to the disarmament of the people. You see the thugs and crooks now know that the people can't be armed.
I read that the prime minister of Japan in WW2, was asked after the war, why they didn't attack the west coast of the US after they destroyed Pearl Harbor. He said that they knew all americans have guns, that we have lots of target shooting matches and that would have made an attack impossible.

arbn2.. - Mine is a SIGARMS, and I got it through a police supply for a great price. The reason I ask about the 357 Sig caliber is because I've heard so many good things about it, but I'd like to talk to someone that's shot it to get more info.

I don't want to buy a revolver right now, and I'm stuck on Sig so I'm pretty much looking for the P226. Just not sure on the caliber yet...

I just started leading a 4H project this year....Shooting Sports. It is pretty big in some states. I'll have the first Shooting sports group in Fresno County. Shaping young minds.

Actually my focus is safety, awareness, knowlege, safety, confidence, safety, respect and competition. I had a great turnout for my 1st couple meetings. Going to get NRA grant funding and purchase some competition air guns. This will be a fun project for the kids.

Self loading military type rifles are my passion, with the FAL being my favorite. I do not keep a weapon that will not put at least 10 out of 20 rounds in a 1 inch circle at 100 yards, using open sights. A heavy barrel FAL I sold when I needed some cash would put 19 out of the 20 into a 3/4 inch group at 100 yds (the rifle was just too dam* heavy).

A 9mm is fine. If you go to the shows you can get tons of stuff for the 9mm. Put the right round in it,(Starfires or Hydra-shocks) and they have plenty of stopping power. The Nazis chose the 9mm as the best combination of lethality and economy after extensive testing. Any guesses as to what their tests entailed?
