As dangerous as COVID-19 is, not just to a person but all the people they might expose, it bends the mind that so many would choose not protect themselves and others. For free, no less.

More importantly, there are all of the world leaders who not only down play the need for vaccination, but discourage mask wearing. And the commentators, senators and social media people the who sell the idea that vaccination is a conspiracy and (somehow) damage our freedom. Of course these actors are almost exclusively far-right and claim to be conservative.

Seeing the sentiments of the xenophobe and racists being sold as "good values" these days, I keep coming to the same conclusion:
They would like to see more damage done by the virus. Damage to the poor, the racially un-pure, the politically disenfranchised. Their leaders are quietly vaccinated and have excellent medical coverage. They are safe.

This falls inline with the "them or us" mentality of the far-right.
And their leadership is too smart not to know that many will die from their actions and the views they sell as truth.

If everyone that is vaccinated that wants to be vaccinated, what’s the difference? If your vaccinated you shouldn’t care that I am right? I pose no threat to you, if you have been vaccinated right? I’ve been trucking right along through this whole thing all over the Midwest, to the Carolinas, the west as far as Utah and Idaho. In truck stops where hundreds of people come through a day. I’ve never gotten sick or anything, I’m 33 years old why would I take a vaccine that I have no idea what the long term side effects are gonna be?
