I saw The Who during their 1982 "final tour" at JFK Stadium in Philly. Yeah - no Keith Moon, but I never had a problem with Kenney Jones. I thought he got a bad rap with them. Honestly, anyone following Moon would have had it rough. I agree that they didn't quite have the energy I had expected. I remember saying to my teenage self - "THESE are supposed to be rock's bad boys???" No smashed instruments. No equipment flipped over. Nothing like that. They came out, played their set with a couple of encores and called it a night. I remember being mildly disappointed having grown up hearing all of the stories about how "wild" Who concerts were.

I've seen J.Geils 3-4 times. Mainly in smaller venues. I dont remember ever seeing them in a stadium. I think I saw them at either the Beacon Theater or Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC once. I saw them at Jones Beach. And I remember driving up to Boston with some friends to see them at a small-ish auditorium/theater. Great shows each time.

I'm disappointed I didn't recall a couple of shows that should be in my Top 5 or honorable mentions.

Dead Can Dance

Mindblowing.

The entire concert I was transfixed on the basic instruments and imagined this was probably what Biblical royalty were entertained like.

Porcupine Tree

An epic performance and I kept wondering why the rest of the world hadn't heard of them.

David Bowie & NIN

2 of my favorites on one bill...they even joined each other for a couple of songs.

Frank Zappa

Little did I know that this would be my last FZ show. The venue in Royal Oak, MI was perfect for him and his band.

I go to waaaay to many shows.

I like you choice of concerts. I always wanted to see both Bowie and Zappa. Guess I missed out on Bowie. Definitely want to see Zappa. Would also like to catch Rob Zombie and Five Finger Death Punch one of these years.

Catch Dweezil Zappa then.

He does more with lessand pays homage to his dad's music. Often some of Frank's former band members tour with him.

Bought tickets yesterday for Rob Zombie and Mudvayne.

This *almost* makes me wanna list down all the concerts I’ve been to. More as a brain exercise than anything else but it would be mildly challenging.

It's hard to rank. My first concert was KISS when I was like 13 yrs old. Neighbor was a good friend and their parents took us to see them live in Minneapolis. Still in makeup with Peter Criss and Ace Frehley. I had all of their albums except for the "Elder." Truth be told, I went as Peter Criss and my friend did Gene Simmons. My Mom did an awesome makeup job.

Later years a ton of other concerts like Pink Floyd, Back Crows, James Brown, Maceo Parker, George Clinton, Public Enemy, U2, Bestie Boys, Big Head Todd... I've seen and enjoyed a lot of musi.c Small and large local and national but over the years I'm getting too old for concerts and the prices now days are crazy.

I encourage my kids to see concerts and local music since you only live once.

Too many just off the top of my head:

Seal in a small theater in Tahoe
Prince and Time and Morris Day in a small theater in Ann Arbor
George Benson in Tampa
Rick James in a nightclub party late on Thanksgiving night in Detroit
Tom Petty by himself by, total surprise, just started playing in the corner of a college bar in Gainesville
George Clinton and Pit Bull at private parties
Winton Marsalis and Miles Davis- each in the same small jazz nightclub in Orlando
Seinfeld in small theater in Tampa and Cheech and Chong (if they count)
BB King in an Orlando park
B52s
Moody Blues
Go Go Girls
Joan Jet
Elvis Costello
English Beat in a small bar in Ann Arbor
...

I am sure I am forgetting several others.

But, #1 goes to Seal, #2 to Prince and Time, #3 to Rick James, #4 to Wynton Marsalis and # 5 to George Benson.
