MACS, you are 2+ hours north of me and closer to the coast. What's your weather and foreast? - because I get whatever you get the very next day...

Was rainy all morning, so Tank got a short walk. This afternoon the sun popped out so we walked around the 'hood and apparently the boy can adjust his poop schedule to fit around his leisurely walks.

Edit: Robert, it was rainy last night and this morning. 68 high today, I think. Next few days are cool and partly cloudy. mid 60's to mid 70's and rain again on Saturday.

Rain/snow all day. Did some more work on the Lego Rivendell set with the boy after he got home from school but otherwise did a whole lotta nothing today. Went to the grocery store and bought a bunch of meat. Vac packed manageable portions of the meats and refilled the freezer. Bought a 4lb bottom round and sliced that for jerky - marinading overnight.

Exhaust tubing didn't show up but one of two boxes is still showing "out for delivery" since Sunday morning. The one that went to Chicago and then down to Indy and back to Chicago now says "Your package is still on the way, but a delivery date is unavailable right now." If it shows up in the next 7 days can't do anything with it need to keep the car usable for work. I suspect the box is crushed or torn open. If it is, that makes 3 fedex packages in a row that got ruined in transit. And I let them bassids get me excited that it would come early.

You got a dehydrator, Danm? I've always wanted to make my own beef jerky. Just not sure how to do it and I don't have a dehydrator.

If they stay as long as three days, that's called Squatting and Family are the hardest ones to remove!!! 🇨🇮

RiverRatRuss wrote:

Don’t have that problem. Family likes me and they pick up on the subtle cues I put out.

Alright! Was fun. Now you have to go somewhere else. If you stay, do the dishes and clean up. You’ve got an hour. Be sure you are gone before we return. Love You! (Door closes)

Quiet and gray day so far. Forecast calls for a nor'easter tonight and all day tomorrow. Rain coming followed by heavy winds and a bunch of wet heavy snow through out the night and all day tomorrow. They are saying around 10-14" in my area. Possible power outages and downed power lines.

I have the day off so thawing out some NY strips. Cow flesh and roasted taters is on the menu for tonight.

We got 10 inches over two days. With that Atlantic low pressure system, you’ll be getting more and wetter snow. Green Bay is now 14 inches above the average snowfall. 39 inches in the last 41 days. A winter war of attrition.

Is it John Wayne's version? There are many variations, but it is pretty tasty.

Google: john wayne casserole

No fuss there, that is for sure.
Hers is tatortots, beef, green beans, cream of mushroom soup. Delish.

Never heard of tater tot casserole before today (should probably put this in the knowledge recently acquired thread).

Looked up a few recipes and thinking that it might be something I should try next weekend. I'm always looking to try something new and easy.

There are a few versions out there but I think the one 8track described would be the one I'd try. I'd add some diced onion and garlic while browning the beef though prior to adding the cream of mushroom soup and simmer for a bit. Add a layer of French cut green beans on top of the beef and before the tater tots then a layer of shredded cheese on top.

Could probably do a taco version too using taco seasoning with the beef, some Rotel mixed in with the beef, and some black beans instead of green beans.

Either way ts looks like a different twist/form of lasagna thingy.

On a similar note...

If making Shepard's Pie... corn or peas and carrots for the veggie layer? Some folks are straight out corn and anything else is sacrilege.

I'd do all three using a bag of frozen mixed veggies (peas, carrots, corn) but there are people (and dogs) that despise peas.

It's worth getting one if you like jerky. I have some cheapo unit from Amazon and it does fine. I've made salmon, pork, beef, and bison jerky.

The process is simple, but there's a learning curve. Once you find the feel, it's really easy. Lean meat trimmed and sliced with the grain about 3/16" thick, marinate overnight, dehydrate until it feels right.

80 degrees and just off. Northern Az mountains have the most snow pack recorded in over 30 years. Controlled flooding releases are starting but nothing like Cali problems.
