Must win for Arsenal @ Newcastle. Need it for any chance of staying in the title race.

After the game, sausages and kraut on the grill, followed by a drink and a cigar on the deck the wife.

Good Sunday Morning to All! It's 76° on thaws to 83° today. Feeling a little dizzy, I'm pretty sure I have an er infection.Still, going to the funeral for the Father of a younger fellow I know from the shooting range and ARA matches.

Have an opportunity to be a bad guy in one of those sumo-suits and get taken down by police dogs at an upcoming K9 police contest.

There must be something wrong with me, because I'm considering it.

I've done it. Around 1994/1995 timeframe I worked in the armory on the Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado. The kennels are right next door. They had around 6 or 7 dogs, IIRC. 6 Belgian Malinois and 1 German Shepherd.

Since I was preparing to become a Master-at-Arms (boiler technicians were no longer necessary), the MA's had me help them with the dog training. I didn't wear the full suit, just the arm wrap. You will still feel the dog bite. Lots of pressure, but it didn't hurt all that much.

HA!

When I bought my first house in the early 2000's my next door neighbor was a local cop. He had two trained K9 dogs.

Zima was a Belgian Malamute trained for apprehension and detection (drugs, bombs, humans). She was retired before her time since the local town shut down their K9 unit and the state police took over for K9 stuff.

Solo (aptly named since she was a the only dog from her litter) was a black lab trained for detection but never made it on the force due to hip problems.

Neighbor had the bite suit and all that stuff so I asked (while drinking beers) if I could try to see if Zima could catch me and take me down.

Him: Yes but... are you sure you want to do that?
Me: Sure, Zima knows me and likes me. How bad can it be?
Him: Zima is trained to do whatever I tell her to do no matter if she knows you or not. It's a game for her, one that you will lose. She won't kill you but once she takes you down, she will keep you there until I tell her to stop.
Me: OK, when will you tell her to stop?
Him: When I feel like it.
Me: Yeah, on second thought probably not a good idea.

^Just an FYI... working dogs train for either drugs or bombs, not both. If they alert... how do you know what they're alerting on? Bad idea.

They can do drug/patrol or bomb/patrol but not drugs/bombs.

Saw 2 more deer cross the road on the dog walk. Pretty brazen about it... first one ran across, second one just sauntered. Tank was like... "What da?"

Had to be 100+ pounds each. Tank is 62 and they were much bigger.

Yeah, don't know the details on what she was trained for on the sniffing part. Apprehension and people search was her main job. After they decommissioned the local police station's K9 unit, he wanted to transfer to another town to keep doing K9 work but the staties took over all K9 duties in the surrounding area.

He did some contract work with her as a weekend side job now and again to sniff incoming containers at the Boston shipyards. This was shortly after 9/11 so I'm guessing she was trained to sniff out explosives.

Solo (the black lab) was trained for sniffing out drugs.

Nice resume for him as he had two certified working dogs that covered the rainbow of apprehension, tracking, explosives, and drugs.

Both dogs have passed away. Him and his wife were very active in taking in dogs from the shelter. Temporary home and training them to pass on to a forever home.

They retired down to FL in the past 5 yrs or so. Ft. Myers area I think.

Wifey and I went for a nice hike in the preserve. My knee and back are talking mutiny now so it looks like layabout the rest of the day.

Nah, don't worry about it. Just put on the bite suit and start running. The dog will take care of the rest.

Did things today, now I'm tired. Beautiful 80 and sunny day today so the trip to menards for two small things took an hour and a half because of traffic.

Think I'm gonna make tacos for dinner
