Your body is going to be very happy about not working nights when you finally get to day shift. Money aside, it is better for you physically and mentally.

If the muh fuggers hadn't switched me back to nights I probably would have worked 2 more years.

It’s interesting how management, at times, has no clue about their staff and what makes them tick as well as what is the last thing you should do to them.

Shawn - did you ever tell your supervisor that you absolutely HATED working nights and making you do so accelerated your retirement? If so, what was his / her reaction?

Having worked in a similar capacity as Shawn I can definitely relate. As far as the agency I worked for they didn’t give a chit. As far as they were concerned if didn’t like it you were free to quit. Since the administration from the Sheriff down they had “paid their dues” so to even mention it you’d be considered a whiner and your career would come to a screeching halt.

Yes. Captain and Lieutenant both agreed I would be on days, on the side of the week I wanted to work... then we got a new captain. He was an arrogant prick when I met him as a sergeant, worse as a lieutenant, and again as a captain.

He said I was going to night shift... knowing I didn't want to. So I went out on FMLA for 2 months while I filed all my retirement paperwork. Went back to work long enough to say goodbye to everyone and retired.

Did he care? Nope... didn't bother him at all. Someone else just filled in when I left. But the Lord works in mysterious ways. The lieutenant I was working for retired, too. [frypan]

Long day today. Broke my all time best driving distance. Logged 776.4 miles today in 10 hours and 57 minutes. Drove from Walcott, IA to Rapid City, SD. My clock expired as I pulled into the truck stop. I’m tired and my butt hurts. Goodnight.

Laid down. Within 5 minutes starting coughing. Within 30 minutes it became non-stop. After about an hour I go in the truck stop to get some cough medicine. They don’t have any. So now I’m in a bed in the ER at Monument Hospital in Grand Rapids, SD.

Hope it's nothing serious Anth.

Happy February folks. It's 55/74 today and rain is predicted to start this evening from an "atmospheric river" California is sending us. We can always use the wet.

Kermit Weather here. Very froggy 🐸 🌫️.

High of 38 is the estimate. If things go as forecasted, the next seven days will be an average of 15 degrees above normal.

That is generally how it goes. Sometimes they don’t give a chit. Other times, the boss might go to bat for you with their boss. That has worked for me maybe one or two times out of five over 30 years.

Everyone has a boss. And when the biggest boss has shareholders as their boss, they can’t or won’t do anything that will cost an extra dollar. Even when they know not doing anything will cost $3 in poorer morale.
