The little town I live in is doing it's annual Oktoberfest today. They block off the main street downtown. The Ale House will have a tent set up for food and beer, other food trucks will be there, local shops set up tents to sell stuff, live bands on a stage in one of the parking lots, face painting for kids, police and fire departments hand out free bike helmets for kids and stuff like that. Maybe a dunk tank for charity to dunk the mayor and folks. Just a general festival thingy.

Son and I might walk down to see what's going on and grab some lunch from food truck or sumptin'. Tried a bratwurst last year from the Ale House but they don't know how to make them right. New Englanders and French Canadians cant make a good brat if their life depended on it.

Daughter is in DC this weekend visiting the sites and maybe wants go to college in that area. Uggg. A great place to visit but I would never want to live there much less then spend my college years there. I'm a small town guy and not a fan of big cities.

No rain in the forecast this weekend so maybe I'll finish putting a coat of stain/sealer on the deck this afternoon or maybe not. I can't predict the future.

Personally, I wouldn't use my dink to try to fix it.

On the bright side, you'll have some wood to burn next year after it's seasoned. Wood heats 4 times. Once when you cut it, once when you split it, once when you carry/stack it, and once when you burn it.

I don't know if it's a cylinder/ring issue or a gasket leak issue but I couldn't get the carb to draw fuel. Ran fine with a gravity feed line, would start up every pull on the primed gas, but wouldn't draw from the fuel tank. Line was clear, threw a vacuum gauge on the carb and it wasn't pulling any vacuum. Compression was sufficient, but two stroke stuff likely need gaskets and carb.

I ended up buying the same model so I can keep using the chains I own, and have a parts saw for the future. I do need to get a big saw, 20" or more bar for some of the big stuff but I figured I've gone 15 years with the little 14" saw, I do need a small light saw in addition to a big boy so I got another CS310 Echo.

Tree is cleaned up. The main trunk is still there. While I was cleaning it up wife said neighbor girl texted her and said she wanted to chop it up for firewood. It's right on the property line so she can have it.

Home Depot had an 18" Echo cordless chainsaw on clearance for $165 with battery and charger. I considered that instead of repurchasing a 14" gasser for light duty. But after reading reviews, didn't sound like something I could use to strip limbs on a whole fallen tree. Battery life of 30 minutes, 3 hour charging time, overheating/shutting down on long cuts etc. Would probably be fine for limb stripping but I'd need a second battery at a minimum.

Finally turned my hot peppers into hot sauces today.

Filled a few mason jars with brine and once a week added everything I picked from the garden to the jars to ferment for preservation. Separated the peppers and made 3 batches. Pineapple ghost sauce, jalapeno apple sauce, and reaper garlic sauce. Been eating the habaneros fresh from the garden so I didn't have enough of those to make a peach habanero sauce, I just threw the peppers in with the ghosts.

Whole house is spicy.

Rainy soccer this morning and Gavin with a huge save at the end. Goalie fell and they had an open net, Gavin dove and took a ball to the body to save the last shot of the game. Now it's time for Korn!

Bunch of people I know are going to that show in Tinley. I thought about it but I can't do lawn anymore and I'm not paying what they want for seats.

An early mini Indian Summer here for 4-5 days…….gonna be mid 70s to low 80s on the coast.
Add 5-10 degrees to that for the golf course 4 miles inland where I work.
Yeah, we have crazy micro climate chit here.

No cigar since Thursday……too much work and childcare.
Thought wifey might be home by mid October, but friggin fire she is working in Wyoming looks like it blew up again dang it.
Find out today or tomorrow.
