I never played but was motivated to coach my son's team when my wife signed him up in 1988, when he was 6 and the team didn't have a coach. Learned the game from books and videos, and by watching Premier League games on TV. We had mostly competitive teams, even earning podium spots a few seasons, and I also coached some all-star teams at some tournaments. Besides coaching every year, I got sucked into refereeing and did both for 6-7 years, until my son left AYSO for a club team. I was a pretty good ref, became the ref administrator for the local AYSO, taught basic ref classes. I advanced up to testing for the National 2 level, qualified to do under 16 games.

Now my son coaches his son's team, which is pretty good, and he's also become a good referee. My grandson wants to ref also, and said he'll take the course when he reaches the starting age of 12. I can't run well with an artificial knee and arthritis in the other knee, so I'm confined to being an assistant ref, doing a line for Under 12 games. Our dream is that one day, the three of us will be a 3 man team of refs for a game: Son in the center, and the grandson and me running a line.

Good point. Maybe I should have used different words. Spray the deck with stain sealer then roll it in... roll it in so it's a nice cover.

Nah, that's creepy.

Had to cut our way out of the driveway. Lost power for about a day. About 30 minutes south is really bad.

Good Saturday Afternoon to All! We got power back last night, we are soooo very thankful. 🙏

Still lots of people without power, water and too many without homes, we consider ourselves very blessed.

No internet yet, posting from my phone.

Yes, people here are getting wound up about Milton. It was the same in Texas during or after A big storm people would go nuts about the next storm. Back then, I had a little DOS based storm tracking application that had the historical paths of 100s of hurricanes. They sometimes go up near the shore spin around and head back out. They change direction all the time you really can’t bet on anything. It was the same for Helene. The damage here looked like tornadoes, but the weather service finally at first they said we only had 82 mile an hour winds. After looking at the tree damage, it was estimated at.more than100 mile an hour winds wind. Their measurement tools had broken during the storm.

We are getting warmer every year. Scientists say the warmer oceans cause more sever weather. Course we don't believe in da science. 🤐

We DO believe the Earth is getting warmer. We DON'T believe it is caused by CO2. The Earth has warmed and cooled all by itself before we were ever here. Now the "scientists" want to tell us it's our fault with 100 years of data?

Sure.

CO2 is .04% of our atmosphere. It has been a lot higher... plants LIKE it higher. If it goes much lower, plants will die.
