When the thum was found, did he give it back to you?
Did you get a displaced Thumbs Up?
Do you still have severed appendage in a bottle?
I have the full compliment of fingers and toes.
If I strip nekkid, I can count to 20 and a half.

Yes neighbor found it and gave it too me in a ziplock bag. I maybe wrong but I think a day old 25% of a thumb is kinda worthless. I thought about putting in a jar of formaldehyde but that would be creepy. (had to Google the spelling of formaldehyde to preserve body parts... if I'm not heard from again, the cops took me in and will dig in the yard looking for body parts. I might be sharing a cell with JonSie... I'll tell him the Cbid folks say Hi).
Hospital had a bunch of questions to ask me.
Them: Was it a work related injury?
Me: Nope.
Them: Where did it happen?
Me: {address redacted} Neighbor's walk out basement.
Them: Does the neighbor have insurance?
Me: I would guess they do. Isn't that part of owning a house? What's with the questions?
Them: Are you looking to file an insurance claim?
Me: I didn't know there was such a thing so answer is nope. When you're done with the paperwork, can you just fix what's left of the thumb?
Had to undergo a couple thumb surgeries. It was opened up like a banana, they lopped off some more bone to get to good structure. Stitched the skin back together and took a skin graft off my arm to top off the tip of the appendage. The skin graft took just fine after two tries. Now I have a thumb that grows hair out the tip.
Positive: it's one less fingernail to trim.
Negative: if I commit a crime, I have a rather unique thumb print.
Positive: When my kids were young and asked why I had a short thumb, I would tell them that's what happens when you pick your nose.
