I find the ignorance that is impressed with castro even more fasinating than the man himself.

I'm impressed with castro in the same way I'm impressed with Cheney. I know I can't manage to shoot my friend in the face, and then make him publicly apologize.

You have to be impressed by people that can do this sort of thing, otherwise you aren't giving them enough credit.

Why it would suprise anyone that dr P thinks he knows more about life in Cuba then Cubans do?

Hitler looked real popular in newsreel footage too Dr. P.

I must say I am not surprised.

Wonder what they constitute as success, Cuba has gone back 50 years in time, the people have suffered worst than 3rd world countries hit by famine??

Wonder if they wish for the same degree of success for us?

Wonder if they consider themselves successful based on those values?

I did once come across a homeless bum that proclaimed he had beaten ‘the man’

DP is right, no one wants to eliminate Castro.

Who said no one wants to eliminate Castro? I simply said he's safe to walk in the streets among his own people, where as our leaders would never even consider that.

I guess not all values and virtue is measured by economic success; is it Rug?

Foe example, here's what Damián Fernández, director of the Cuban Research Institute at Florida International University in Miami, said:

``What happens next [after Castro's death] is less certain, but I would expect more continuity than change in the short term and mid-term. The forces of inertia will be strong.

``The other issue is that there is no strong national opposition that is a serious threat to the regime,'' Fernández said. The challenge for Raúl Castro, he said, will be to make enough economic changes to satisfy the population's desire for more economic freedom without threatening the power of the leaders.

``He'll have to deal with a very poor Cuba,'' Fernández said. ``But people don't expect much. Just opening a little bit will give him legitimacy and support.''

Castro is Amazing. In order to walk the streets freely all he had to do is kill or imprision all of his enemies and outlaw personal ownership of any weapons. Even more amazing is he doesn't even probably need all the security they don't show in the pictures and clips. They would be hard to see any how since they are usually incognito. What a great Country !

Of course he has security, or course people could obtain weapons and try to kill him.

The point is, in our nation, even with security, our leaders can't march down the street with a million people in protest. They're too afraid of dying. Castro's not. He has balls. Cuba's not a great country, it's a pissy little island nation like our commonwealth Puerto Rico.

The point is Castro is loved by many of his people, and can walk down the street. He told the powers that be to F-off! and lived. It's freaking hilarious. It's a unique fact of modern American history (America doesn't end at the Rio Grande, there's central, south, etc.). Moreover, the fact that Castro can walk down his streets and that he has balls makes people squirm (scroll up), is even sweeter.

I'm from Texas. I like outlaws.

I just thought you were stupid and like commies.

Your argument here doesn't hold water as even you admit. Sadam did the same thing, as did Hitler and Stalin after disarming and cleansing the population of any dissenters.

Castro is a butcher dip****, Jesse James was an outlaw

Lol Rug, if I were live, and I asked you what communism is, you wouldn't even be able to answer. I own several properties that I rent to the struggling bourgeois in lucrative capitalist markets, of course I wouldn't like communism you idiot. You don't have to agree with a person to recognize they have cojones. Castro had balls for standing up, and damn good luck for living through it. Look at Noriega, at Saddam.

Regardless of your dull retorts Castro could get out in the street and march with millions of supporters; security won't stop a million people. Right or wrong, los cubanos se ama el Fidel and that drives you up the wall ... good ya eunich!

DP will climb a mountain to cover up his ****up. LOL!

I love the way some think: ‘Because NO ONE has ever written anything bad about Castro, nor expressed the slightest bit of discontent; THEY MUST ALL LOVE HIM!. ‘

They don’t stop there, they say ‘Because we have dissent, we must live under an oppressive regime’

I wish Castro in his retirement would open a ‘camp’ were we could send some of our pussies who have just had it with the miserable conditions over here.

Due to the seizure and nationalization of foreign assets, Castro still owes me money.

On with the embargo. Stop buying Cuban cigars.

Jet, why would Cubans execute a mass exodus when Castro die?

First, he's about 90% dead as it is, and no longer has a hand in Cuban government. Secondly, it is widely anticipated that US/Cuban relations will thaw with the elimination of the stubborn Fidel, as well as the advanced age of many of his old foes in the US. Whether these conditions materialize or not (probably not), the expectations will be for a possible ease on the embargo & better times for all. Hardly fodder for an immigration crisis.
