Adroomi,

This is very odd coming from you.

Would you be as trivializing if the topic was Asian hookers canoeing in the Indian Ocean to escape a life of servitude?

Ask anyone other than yourself, the odds of survival on a inner tube boat in the Bermuda Triangle is about fiddy-fiddy. This is not difficult to realize. Surely you understand and know that Elian’s mother died trying to get her son here. Go ahead, take a minute to do the math. Then try to phantom her hardships, and emotions, particularly in the final hours.

(BTW she did not ‘washup on the beach’ either.)

I am sorry gringo, the dumb-ass before you put me on the edge saying that Castro can walk freely on the streets. Sure, and the Grand Wizard gets nothing but hugs at the republican conference.

Every pothead at onetime has worshiped a poster of Che or Fidel. Mistakenly fascinated at what they believe to be Gods of Antiestablishment. Just as Fidel would have you to believe, but make no mistake, he IS the longest lasting establishment in HISTORY OF MANKIND! During all that time, Cuba has only gone backwards.

His age alone should have disqualified him from such responsibilities.

It's hilarious to be able to type phonetic signifiers like "Castro" & "Bush" and watch people like jbu foam and turn, without their even having a clue that power is held by coalitions and shadowy (but easily indentifiable) groups.

The ignorant dumb-ass in question posted one of many pictures available of the Fidelito out in the street with Cubans, as objective proof of the ignorant dumb-ass's claim. There's a huge difference between a small, closed, invitation only conference, and a million people flooding in the streets, the stories and photos of this event were taken from various, credible sources.

http://tinyurl.com/yfbelq

"Hundreds of thousands of Cubans led by President Fidel Castro marched along Havana's waterfront on Wednesday in a show of revolutionary fervor against U.S. pressure."

http://tinyurl.com/y5bc2p

Castro [called a] ... mass organizations, comprising women's and student federations, the Communist party and various trade unions, all of which are loyal to the Cuban government [of] ... about 1 million people would march in Havana alone.' Let's see Bush try this, what a flop it would be.

Notice jbu only ever relies on jbu's personal testimony to back up her arguments.

The point is not to laud Castro, but to highlight the fact that he is more liked on his own shores, as is Hugu Chavez, because they give lip service to the majority, the poor & working, while rather turning a cold shoulder to industrialists & capitalists. Of course they use security measures; as the US has found out in Iraq, you don't go disinviting the ruling class and expect them to take it lightly. Castro did it by revolution. Even sweeter, Chaves did it by the ballot box.

Remember, and observation of the way things are is not necessarily an endorsement of the way things should be, it's just an observation.

Dr,

If you believe he is popular with the majority in Cuba I would like to talk with you about this bridge in Brooklyn I can get you a deal on...

Jeez, do you really believe that? I suggest you visit South Florida and speak with some of the recently arrived from that garden spot in the Caribbean..

Yes there are "believers" in the "revolution" but he is mostly reviled. THAT IS JUST THE TRUTH... Again I suggest you get some first hand info on it.. This is one subject I can speak on with FIRST hand knowledge..

DrPep,

When you clearly state the obvious, folks can't seem to understand it. They'd rather misread, misinterpret, and then call you a commie sympathizer.....simply because you stated the facts. If calling you a commie sympathizer doesn't get to you, they call the people you know and love prostitutes and the food you eat "colon blow."

Millions of Cubans ARE trying to make it to America, however most Americans think it's because they hate Cuba, when in fact, it's because they are looking for a better opportunity. Just like the Mexicans that come. It has little to do with angst against their leadership.

I've listened to a lot of Cuban music and what I hear sorta speaks for itself (music of the youth speaks for an entire country....case in point, Rap). Anger at the government, anger at the USA, and anger in general.

Love of country and and love of their leader are there though....clear as day.

I like Cuban girls that play the flute...

DP,

I am not looking any further than your statement itself. And the obvious contradiction. " Castro can walk freely in public" Movie stars cannot do that, nor could Ghandhi.

Please think about it.

I know many Cubans in Miami that use their softest voice when saying anything about Fidel because they believe that his spies are here as well.

'Love of country and and love of their leader are there though....clear as day. '

You are so wrong on this I can't even put into words.

So believe what you may, I only wish there were a few Cubano's on this board to step in right about now.

If I showed this to some of my Cuban friends and X co-workers in Miami they would surely laugh and just call you a "ignorant gringo". Actually they would use some words in espanol that I would never post on this board.

Adroomi, believe what you will, but boy are you in left field on this one. Actually your not even in the stadium on this one!!!

Topper,

Are you going to tell me that Cubans do not love their country, or their leadership?

All of them?

I certainly did NOT say that they ALL love their country and their leadership, but I'm certain more than a few do.

can you accept that?

Adroomi, In my wasted youth, I spent a lot of time travelling in the south lands, mainly, I think, because I found the females there are of a particularly spicy flavor. Travelling in Mexico, Central America, and along the coastal rim of south america, I saw a lot of cultural vitality and dynamicism. Some nations chose to genocide their indigenous populations, namely Argentina, most others however assimilated them, like Equador, Brazil, & Venezuela.

People in those nations, like most others, our own included, seemed politically polarized along class lines, with the old blue money favoring the heavy military be-medaled caudilleros, and the more populous lower classes favoring the revolutionary spirit, awaiting their next Bolivar, and ready to fight.

There was a distinct in your face attitude amongst Latins toward authority, which I appreciated being a Texan, where many of us are 'don't tread on me' and 'cuba libre' types as well.

In the 80s we saw people like Kissinger, Reagan, & Oliver North running around starting wars and helping dictators in central & south America fight "the terrorists." Naturally people there are very suspicious of gringos, and with no small justification. Some of the revolutionaries down south are taking their class struggle to the ballot box now however, people like Chavez, & Bolivian president Eduardo Rodriguez. Should be an interesting century.

Adroomi,

The Cuban people have a DEAP love of country, BUT NOT CASTRO, he is hated with a passion that I cannot explain on this board.

There love is for a country that no longer exists, one that may never have existed, Cuba was once the garden spot in the Caribbean, it is now basically a SH*T hole.

The Cuban people dream of the old Cuba, and hope one day it will return.

You confuse love of country to love for the country NOW. They love what Cuba was and what they believe it can be in the future!!!

jbu back up your claims with something besides your own farts or can it please. Pick up a national enquirer and see all the photos of celebrities in public. It's one thing to be a fool, most of us are. It's quite another to use one's own mouth to advertise it broadly.

Agreed fully.

you can kill your people, but if you speak to the masses, they will follow you.

Speak to the rich, and the masses will turn their backs.

I made up the thing about Ghandhi being well liked and assassinated in public.

If you cannot use your head, there never will be enough proof in the world
