BTW~~~~I don't like bobcats~~They're detrimental to the Wild Turkey population.

Ben Franklin wanted our National Bird to be the Wild Turkey.

I'm glad he didn't.

Turkey hunting is fun.

Can you imagine how ugly the crest or anything else would be with a turkey on it instead of the Bald Eagle?

A good friend of mine taught me to Turkey hunt. I'd never done it until 1989 when he took me out the first time.

We were planning on a big season when we came back from Desert Storm, but he went and got himself killed on March 1st, 1991 at 7:05pm. He had left his boat, guns, and bows at my house when we deployed. I tried to use his bow during the next season when I returned but couldn't hit anything.

I left Georgia and went up to Alaska and that year killed a bull moose with his bow. He'd never moose hunted but he talked about it a lot. I layed a photo of my moose and me on his grave in Mississipi when I passed through there in 1998. Mike Garrett.

The only wild turkey I kill these days is named Austin Nichols.

Where in Mississippi was he laid to rest? I live here.
