Oh, BTW, did I tell you that I had a special Opus X #2 picked out for a very special occasion. When I went to light it, my dog (a Dalmation that was a former pet at a local firehouse), ran at me, knocked the lighter (fire) out of my hand and chewed my Opus to pieces. :o(

I therefore have not yet experienced the phenomena that is called Opus X....

I didn't pay attention to which one it was. It was the only size they had in stock and they didn't have many. It isn't that big, maybe 4-5" with a small ring size. I'm guessing that it's the #5.

Thanks so much for the Opus and friends. It's sitting in my humi begging for me to smoke it. I'm definitely waiting for the right occasion though. Maybe the end of my 1st year at grad school...that's only a few weeks away. You are a true champ. Thanks Doc...

I went over to a good buddies place tonight for a Easter cookout and some good brew and smokes. He was kind enough to pass on an Opus X for me. He enjoyed a HUGE Ashton Cabinet something or other. Didn't pay enough attention because I was so taken in by the Opus. Definitely a great stick...his payback will be a Cohiba Siglo III (ISOM).

But, all I have to say about my experience of Opus X cigars, is that they are overpriced & overhyped.

There is no substitute for an Opus X!!!

Mag! You haven't seen the light! IT'S A MAG LIGHT! With 4 D-CELLS in it!! Opus ROCKS! Needs some age like all cigars, but properly cared for, it is an outstanding cigar. Yes, it is expensive, yes it is hard to find, yes, perhaps no cigar is worth the pain in the xxx to get like the Opus and others in the same range, but they are EXCELLENT (IMHO).

Robby I respect your opinion of this cigar. But, I think a cigar that gets this much hype(and cash)should be aged pretty well from the factory already.

I've had 3 so far, not bad, but I have much cheaper smokes that were better(CAO Brazilia, Padron 5000 or the Annies etc, etc). In my opinion.

I don't know about you but my experience with Opus X has been the smaller, the better. The #4s, #5s and Power Rangers are among my most favorite cigars. But I've been less impresseed with the larger ones. Had a Double Corona which was in my Humi for 6 months and it was good, but not great.

well..i went to my local shop to purchase some OPUS X (yes they did call me wheny they came in) I even had the pleasure to watch hime open the box. BTW those are BEAUTIFUL boxes. When he asked me how many I wanted I said HOW many can I get. He told me as many as I wanted. I immedialty whipped out the deed to my house, my old black book with all my ladies #s in it ( wife told me to get rid of it anyway ) and my handy credit card. I purchased an entire box of # 2s and split them with a friend of mine. I smoked one and it was harsh tasting. Nothing like the stick I got from doc gave me. that stick rocked. I called the store and he told me that he would give me another. Now that store is a great customer service establishment. But I still like em. They are overpriced and a pedron 1964 anniversary series is a GREAT 2nd for an OPUS at about 11 per stick.

I'm a BIG Fuente fan, but I find the Opus X highly overrated ... IMHO ... and I have had about a dozen or so (all gifted to me). I just can't seem to understand what is so good about them.

Each one that I've had ... the wrapper cracked and peeled, and unraveled, and they were always hard on the draw. I've never had a harsh one, but I guess it's what you are use to.

I'll never buy one ... but won't turn down a gift or a trade ... LOL! I just keep trying (and hoping) that I'll find the one that everyone raves about.

Slim, I have had about 7 or 8 Opus and have really enjoyed them all. I haven't encountered the problems you have but there have been some burn issues. This cigar needs to be touched up more often than most others and will also need to be relighted more often if you don't smoke fast enough. Just my 2 cents. It is also overpriced but I will occasionally splurge.

The Opus X that I've had for a couple of years are excellent smokes, IMHO. Trouble is I got them all mixed up with this past years production and now I don't know which is which.

The Opus X I've had from recent releases just weren't the same as the earlier releases. They have some burn problems and the flavor is just not as rich and smooth. JMHO.

I disagree, depending on where you live in New Joisey, there are many stores that DO carry an extensive supply of hard to find sticks,From Fuente SG to Opus.
You need to know where to shop.

He let you buy a whole box??!! I am shocked and surprised and envious.
Most often a shop will allow you to buy 2 , if you are a great customer maybe 5. Most shops get 4-5 boxes in at 1 time and only 3-4 times per year.
