OK professor, I'll make myself clear. Why are you talking about politics when refering to my post.

Like I said before, of the Conservative Republicans that ripped you, I wasnt one of them, I didnt agree with you, but I defended your right to your views. Nobody else did.

Now you try to imply, that because I think you are whining, its because of my political positions. Why dont you leave politics out and talk sports.

You didnt have the balls to remain part of the political conversations, on political threads. So why now bring up politics on a sports thread?

Lastly, I didnt talk trash with the Kings in my posts. I only mentioned them because you assumed I was a Warriors Fan. If Weber was still in the mix, I'd talk more trash involving them. But he isnt, so I wont.

Clear enough? If not, I'll work with crayons and pictures for you next time. I'm beginning to wonder where you bought your diplomas from.

Mag - I think he was joking. Hence his references to stupid sports trash talking. No need to try and belittle someone whose team just got knocked out like a bunch of sissies...

Yes, cwilhelmi, you are right. It was joking trash talk. That's it. Jeez, Mag, lighten up! Sports trash talk doesn't, by definition, have any rhyme or reason to it. You just defend your team with whatever b.s. you can come up with and critique the opponents with the same sort of nonsense. That's the fun of it for me. It really isn't of any consequence.

As to the 'you didn't have the balls' comment, you couldn't be further from the truth. I just decided that the personal attacks--which seemed obsessed with degrading my profession--weren't worth continuing discussion. Would you continue if multiple people called you a 'stupid grease monkey'? And they meant it in a hateful way? No, you wouldn't. I didn't whine or complain, so don't say that I did. I just quit posting. I wasn't aware of an obligation to keep posting once started. Just quit because the degrading of me and my profession grew tiresome, as well as the fact that my sweetie is 6mos pregnant and needs more of my time. Sorry I didn't remain committed to being the whipping boy for you and your friends. Name calling is boring and boorish. No thanks.

I do remember you defending me when personally attacked, Mike. I do. And I appreciate it. But, and this makes that support feel a little lukewarm, I also remember you saying you would never have been friends with me had you known I was a professor and a left-winger. You followed that with something like 'but now we are friends, so I can't do much about that.' I don't recall you saying that you thought I was a person worthy of friendship, respect, or a good person. Just resignation. How would you feel if I said the same about you? That, had I known you were a mechanic and a right-winger, I would never have been friends with you, but now I am so I can't go back. Damn. Not exactly a ringing endorsement, now, is it?

As to my degrees: earned with blood, sweat, and tears. You ought to have a little more respect for that. Many dedicated years to perfecting a craft, something you surely understand from your own business. I've never disrespected your work that way.

Finally, the Lakers rock and will dominate next year. They were a good roll away from going up 3-2, which we all know would have been a deciding confidence factor for the Spurs. As we saw last night, San Antonio has glass balls. The Mavs rolled over them when the chips were down. They play 48 minutes. Not 40.

OK professor, your memory is about as good as Bill & Hillary's under oath.

I did say that, If I had known that you were such a left winger, that I probably wouldnt have become your friend. At least I'm honest. Do you want me to sugar coat my views for you, or tell the truth?

Then I said "this has taught me a lesson in life, that is, that people with completely opposing views are good and productive people too and can get along like we have."

You have the illness of selective hearing. Give it up.

You said,
"Sports trash talk doesn't, by definition, have any rhyme or reason to it. You just defend your team with whatever b.s. you can come up with and critique the opponents with the same sort of nonsense"

With that quote being said, why did my 2nd post upset you so much, if your definition has any truth to it?

You didnt make the rules of sport trash talk either. So where did you come up with the anything goes crap!

Take a hike. Your sports talk is a lame as your political views.

I was never upset about any sports post. I was playing along. BBS posts are tone deaf by nature.

You are right about that post, Mike, and I had forgotten. I would have appreciated the reminder without the attendant insults. Maybe instead of assuming my willful forgetting (for what reason, I do not know), you might imagine that I have other things going on...teaching a lot of classes, getting packed to move, writing a book, buying cigars, taking care of my sweetie during some complications with her pregnancy, all the worries and joys of anticipated birth...and so sometimes I don't remember everything. I am a human, you know, so I make human errors. I'm acknowledging this one here.

Honest mistake, and I retract what I said above about your message. There were a lot of **** things said to me around that same time, and I mixed yours up with others. Sorry about that.

Go Bulls! As for Kobe Bryant.....he's the closest in talent that we'll ever see in comparison to Michael Jordan..and he's only 25 years old!

John, I've never said anything **** to you. I got to know you in a cigar relationship first. I didnt want to mess that up.

I cut you slack(politically), so to speak because, I like you. You know I can be quite volatile at times, I never was with you.

Lets just chock this up to a misunderstanding.

Wow! that was the longest word I ever typed! Hehehe!

Take care John, Mike

You are right. Kobe is so good now, that its really intruiging to think about what he will do as he gains experience.

His maturity came in sooner than others his age. Its pretty exciting.

Even though I'm not a Lakers fan, I do admire Kobe. He is a good role model in my opinion.

I think Kobe is a great player...but her is getting worse with that baby attitude that Jordan had, and Iverson has. He asks for the foul with every play.

And, I HATE IT when Kobe pump fakes, the defensive player jumps, and then he jumps into the defensive player and takes the shot trying to get, or getting, the foul. In my opinion, that's poor play, and I wish they would make a rule about it. He clearly jumps into the defensive player, shoulder first...how is that legal?

it's no damn wonder I pay so little attention to the NBA ... I don't much care for the playground game and far prefer the solid teamwork one sees at the NCAA level ...
