Now that the SPURS uncermoniously ousted the Lakers from the playoffs, is this the end of the line for the Lakers? Or can they reload and make another run? Who wins this year? I say the Spurs...

Wait a minute. Have You ever heard of Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Gail Goodrich, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabar, James Worthy, Etc. ? The Lakers are NEVER "finished". Just ask The Celtics. World without end, Amen.

They'll add a player or two and win it all next year. Mark my words. They will knock the pretenders (this year's champ) off their pathetic thrones.

Y'all heard it here FIRST!

Uh, this year Shaq was overweight, shoulda had his surgery in the off season, and they were so arrogant to think they could turn it up a notch in the playoffs!

What a joke! Next season IS next season, who cares about next season now? I dont!

Lakers will be back, but I am not a basketball fan- Shaq needs to take game more seriously, extremely overweight with all the folks hanging on him makes it tough to play in his shape.
Kobe is the very best and maybe they can inspire Shaq to get into shape. Pippin, Malone are not the answer to Lakers woe. Heart is the answer.

Spurs should win.

Why would the future champs be pathetic.

Whats your pathetic excuse for Lakers not taking the regular season seriously, getting beaten by last place teams several times.

For being the reigning world champs they were pathetic, and Coby is a great player but, is a crybaby.

The Lakers will come back. But John your whining is unbecoming of you. You reap what you sow, they got EXACTLY what they deserved.

Mag, You sound like you don't like the Lakers. Just my keen senses working.

Well, first the Mavs got lucky that Chris Webber was out, he is the Kings best player, lead them in rebounds, points, and assist. And it still took seven games. If you took Dirk or Duncan or Shaq out of their team, they would outright lose.

Second, the Lakers were also hurt by Fox's injury and George's sprained ankle, since they are not a deep team in the first place. I admit that Shaq didn't look like he had the heart this year, but he is a big guy and small injuries do slow you down, ask any tall person and they'll tell you. And everyone knows Horry's last 3-point attempt in game 5 was the turning point.

But "que sera, sera," Spurs are a great team, and Dallas is good but sporadic. I think The Nets can put up a decent fight with either of these teams.

The Lakers will be back. Remember, Pippen, Malone, and Payton are all free agents. The Lakers have a great front office that's why they are able to rebuild unlike the Bulls after Jordan left.

i am and have been a laker's fan for a long time.

they had some tough luck during the playoffs losing fox, koby's shoulder isn't healthy, devon george bad leg from the fall early in the playoffs, and the coach out of commission for a few days.

having said all that, kobe is a primadona, and expects to be treated better then everyone else. i don't think shaq is overweight enough to slow him down much, but the refs do call a lot of offensive fouls against him and don't give him the flagrent foul calls he deserves. horry has played past his prime. can't take anything away from what he has done, but i suspect he will be traded.

the lakers have all the talent they need, they have been spoiled by the ease with which they knocked everybody off last year. they think they are entitled to win every year without putting out effort. you are correct, they were pathetic during the season and in the playoffs. if it was a different team that played like they did during the regular season, they would be called lucky to get in the playoffs.

they were lucky.

Mag,

Whining? Please define and be precise re: my post. I am saddened to see you conservatives are even taking the tired rhetoric of 'my opponent is a whiner' to sports. THAT is pathetic. Don't you ever talk **** when you talk sports? Be a man. Make a bold prediction. That's all I'm doing.

The Lakers were a shot away from winning game five. If that goes down, different story. You know it, I know it. Hardly a pathetic fall from the throne. San Antonio played well, got the necessary breaks, and defeated the Lakers. Whatever. Four out of Five will be the chant next year.

What, are you gonna talk **** from the Bay Area with the Golden State Warriors as your home team? I'd love to hear that.

This is the lamest statement I've ever seen you make.

"They will knock the pretenders (this year's champ) off their pathetic thrones."

For 1, you dont even know which team is going to win, 2nd, if the champs this year are pathetic, then you just put the Lakers below pathetic. Real smart professor.

They will come back, I have no doubt at all. But to say that ANY other team is considered to you pathetic, is a JOKE!

Now as for being a man and making a statement. You are barking up the wrong tree and ought to know it.

Who made more noise than ME for the GIANTS and THE RAIDERS in these forums! NOBODY!!! Get your facts strait before talking trash to me.

John since I'm just hanging out watching my GIANTS, I've got a moment to make one more comment.

What is saddening, is you throwing in politics on this thread. Who, of the conservatives on these forums, defended your right to make the unpopular statements you used to make. ME!

So why turn this sport trash talking thread into a political statement? Thats pathetic.

And for your information, Sacramento is my team, and if your crybaby Lakers would have met the Kings, with a healthy Weber, the lakers would have had their asses handed to them.

The Kings wont go much farther without Weber, but we will see.

Mag,

Er, I think things are mixed up? I don't really think the future champs are pathetic. That's a joke. So is the rest of the stuff. In my crowd, that's how we talk sports. It clearly doesn't translate into bbs writing. Sorry 'bout that.

As a final note, speaking of ill-placed statements, a Kings fan should NEVER talk **** to a Laker fan. Your team took one position in relation to the Lakers the last few years: PRONE.

What was the question? Couldn't figure out what you're referring to. Do you mean 'why are the future champs pathetic?' Dude, that was a joke.

Or did I miss your real question?
