According to Mr dpnewell, the leading authority on such matters . . . These are the real thing.

If you look at the marketing and graphic's on the box, these were called "Morado Purple"

The imposers were only marketed as Morado's, although CI's little paragraph description

did state they were rated 93 by Cigar Aficionado. Which they were not.

I think they left out the decimal point on the rating. A 9.3 for the reblends would be more like it.

Never took notice of that before. Since Morado is the Spanish word for purple, that would make the name "purple, purple". More then likely the word purple on the box is just the English translation of Morado for the English speaking market. Like if you named a cigar "Toro" and printed the word "bull" next to it, it wouldn't be "bull, bull", but just "bull".

So John, have you smoked one of those yet? If not, time's a wasting.

I always thought the language barrier was subjective, peticularly with marketing.

Say a product is marketed to primarily english speaking countries,

but it is marketed in the parent companies native language (like the LPDH Morado).

At the point of sale it is no longer in a native language, it is a proper name.

(although it may retain another meaning in a different country)

Hence we call it LPDH Morado, not LPDH Purple.

Now if the same marketing has some English spelling as well, I figure the same applies.

So if were not translating everything, lets not translate anything....

The crappy LPDH is marketed under just the Morado name

Whereas the good-ol-days, 93 rated, is marketed under the Morado Purple name

This is more like it. This is the smoke I remember.

Wish I had the money and storage space...I'd have bought a ton of them.

Dave, you rock man. Many thanks. 👍

^^ #12 I understand what you are saying, and believe me, I'm not trying to be a Jack Butt here, but I've got to point something out. Click on the link I listed above to the picture of the cr*p Morados, and look very carefully at the lid. Looks like the cr*p ones are also named "Morado Purple", just like the orginals.

#13 John,
I didn't do anything more then what other BOTLs have done for me. The fact that folks are enjoying these is all the thanks I need. Personally, I'm glad the link is now dead, as everytime I smoked one, I went back and ordered another blasted box. Heaven help me if the leftovers make their way to Cbid, lol.

I'm afraid dpnewell started a feeding frenzy here and a bunch of us sickos with no need for more cigars wiped out CI's supplies in all sizes this past weekend.

I checked the mother ship a couple of days ago based on another thread and could not find them. Even checked a link madaxman posted and it came up on something else.

Maybe next time.
