I have not read all the posts and I have no idea if someone agreed to pick up a box of cigars for someone else, but it does seem like people are standing on some 18th century notion of chivalry that doesn't make much sense when viewed in context. First, people are objecting because some unknown person did not get a box of cigars they would have otherwise purchased. That seems to be a pretty attenuated injury. If there is a willing buyer, that guy will get cigars he really wanted. Second, I get the whole brother of the leaf culture, but this seems a bit overboard. Many of the threads on here are complaining about Pete Johnson or Andre overhyping limited release or htf sticks and creating a market or increasing demand. Heck, as many people object to the Halloween limited release as chase it. If you can get some sticks, get them signed and the market will pay the price you ask, go for it. Many on here profess to be libertarians or free marketers. Who is to say Pete Johnson wouldn't appreciate the ingenuity to make a buck--especially when the buck is used to buy his cigars. If he doesn't want something with his signature resold, he could have insisted that he personalize the autograph -- celebrities will do exactly that if they want to prevent appreciation in the resale market.
