While digging for a smoke earlier I noticed an Opus that has about an inch long split in the wrapper. Has anyone had luck using pectin or any other method to 'fix" a split wrapper?

If it's just the outer wrapper just dry box it then smoke it.

I just got done ashing a FFOX. If what was said above doesn't work I would still try smoking it that was one good smoke.

Maybe you should cut your girly fingernails, they're cutting up all your good smokes as you rummage through your box.

I've done it. Works fine. Read that the liquid is better. I used the powder & added water.

Bailing twine burns more evenly. You have to relight much more often if you use electrical tape.

I use Sure Jell powder pectin: other brands are Certo, Ball, Kraft, and are found in the jello or baking section of most grocery stores. Most brands also come in liquid form. Powder has a longer shelf life, takes up less space and produces a thicker "glue". I dip a moist Q-tip into the powder and swish it a little to get a small amount of gluey residue on the tip. Then carefully lift the loose wrapper, swab the glue onto the binder leaf below, and then press the wrapper in place. Only need a small amount of the gluey residue. Hold together a short while, applying light to medium pressure.

I had good luck with this method... but definitely don't overdo the pectin... it tastes kinda funky to smoke if you put too much on...

I can see where this would work great for " loose wrapper " but not " cracked wrapper"......if you intend to smoke it, patch the crack with a mall piece of "rice" cigarette rolling paper and enjoy as you normally would. Works well IMHO

I've fixed many cracked and otherwise damaged capa leafs with pectin. DCLover and Delta1 covered just about everything there is to it - although I'd personally use a small art paintbrush from like a dollar store or just the tip of my finger rather than a q-tip where the cotton can snag the wrapper and make it worse. If the crack is really bad, you can glue down a piece of capa leaf from another cigar over the damage.

Some of those low sugar ones have all kinds of extra **** in them, so I always buy the pectin that has the least amount of ingredients on the label, can't say I've noticed any difference between the brands.

Used the pectin to save nearly an entire box of Viaje's that all decided to split and crack (almost 15 of the damn things). Had to sacrifice one to make patches for the rest, but all the ones subsequently patched smoked fine thankfully. I'd second using a small paint brush like those used to paint miniatures, no sense leaving cotton fibers on there.
