Your ashtrays are art. And yes the black background shows it off much better than the red did.

Have you ever considered getting your hands on a piece of burl and making an ashtray from that? That glossy finish you do would really look cool and show off the crazy patterns and rings you can get in a piece of burl. I don't know if you have the ability to router out a bowl but an ashtray made from one single piece of burl could really bring in the bucks if you got the right piece.

Stephen, the " gloss." Your seeing I assume is from the glass in the ashing bowl as the finish itself is Satin Poly. And yes I have the ability and have made items from burl.....some love it...some not so much is what I've found.

Really? I'm surprised that there are people who don't find the cool patterns and swirls you can find in a piece of burl to be beautiful. I saw a bit of shine along the right side edge of the Padauk and assumed it was just the lighting of the pic that didn't show a high gloss on the whole ashtray. Still a beautiful finish.

I'd love to see a round ashtray made from a single piece of burl. You could use the router to cut some really cool designs along the outer edge. Use a stain or whatever finish tickles your fancy to really showcase the patterns in the wood.... I'm suddenly feeling the urge to smell some sawdust flying around.... anyway as always you did a fantastic job on the ashtray! Keep the pics coming!

Oh there are those who really dig it...like you n me, but I find the majority still like the others best. I do have some rounds from a Maple that spaulded and has crazy black squiggly lines through it. And once again Stephen Thanks You for the kinds words and taking the time brother.....much appreciated.

With Christmas coming on fast and ASSUMING there will be an OPfth drive......

I'd like to offer this ashtray to the HIGH bidder with ALL proceeds going to Schmitty and the OPfth in Roseville.

I will let it run until day's end on the 15th thus allowing enough time for me to send it out to the winner so they ( hopefully ) receive by Christmas. Let's start with a minimum $25 starting bid and go from there. I have started a thread for this in TRADES as some don't look @ Pic section.....so PLEASE post your Bid amount there and Good Luck

Ready......Set.......GO 🌫
