The whole hand it to the ref thing hinges on "like you have been there before" and doesn't really include then running through the end zone and launching yourself in to the crowd.

I think if Barry Sanders handed the ball to the ref then broke in to gangnam style in the end zone he prolly wouldn't be a standard bearer.

I have no problem with end zone celebrations. I like them. I wish there were no penalties for it. I like the lambeau leap. I also think there should be no penalties for taunting.

But as long as the leap is there the whole hand the ball to the ref concept is out the window to anyone objective.

but nelson doesn't always do a leap, and he always hands the ball to the ref like he's been there. i didn't see myself mentioning any other player, but, when any of 'em do the leap, it's to celebrate with the people who make there job possible. that may possibly be the most class they can show a crowd. i've noticed other teams following suit.
