Every now and then I find a cigar I really like and the, without warning, the profile changes. The flavor, construction or some other thing I like about the stick changes drastically. I know that a batch of tobacco doesn't last forever which implies that some change is to be expected. Even cigars from the same field, with the same rollers can differ. You can even expect some differences in cigars in the same box or bundle. I am talking however about drastic changes where the cigar is no longer the one you loved so much and has now become a piece of chit. You are disppointed. For my pick, it is Pioneer Valley. I could also mention Gurkha, Indian Tabac and 90 Miles. What has been your greatest disappointment in a cigar?

Rocky and Kaizad wouldn't know a good cigar if it hit them in the face. Both labels are "RUN AWAY!" status and it's not going to change. EVER. I don't care how many lines they have or create. They suck.

Now, the old CAO...there was a real classic bait and switch operation. Still is too. Develop a cigar, and take the time to create a really good one. Just can't or won't keep up with production to satisfy everyone and instead of telling people it's different...they keep the plates spinning with trash and serve it up like its filet mignon.

Padron, Fuente, Montecristo and Perdomo can and do create a cigar that you can go back a month...a year...5 years...10 years and it's the same profile. How do they do that? They control the operation. They grow or purchase from the very same fields. They don't want garbage going out the front door into customers hands and they want you to enjoy their product that they put their name on. These families aren't going away.

Stick with a winner and dump the garbage.
