A friend of mine out here has a kid that is getting ready to go to college.

They recently went to the states and visited 8 schools.

She said that at 6 of the schools, during the orientations, the 'students' involved in the orientations all had to say what they identify as.

This is really, really sad.... but mostly it is so STUPID!!!

Just my 2¢...

Excuse me... you want to identify as something? How about dumbazz!!

Yes, my identity is being threatened daily because I identify as a man...

As a tech guy, the only thing I got going for me is I'm not white!

My personal pronoun is he, or him... I don't have anything fancy like... zit, zir, zoro, or it.

Therefore according to those who would install such a policy, I'm a racist, insecure, overly-masculine azzhole :/

Well, at least they got masculine azzhole right.

When I was young I thought the identities thing was silly.
I didn't care how people were going to self identify because I would identify them how I thought they should be categorized.

Then years went by and I realized a few things...
1 - it doesn't harm me or take any effort from me to simply identify someone as whatever they ask.
2 - refusing to is just being a d1ck. If your parents named you susan when you were born, but you asked me to call you jenny.... why does it matter to me?

If it's that important to someone that they be identified as X that they will go out of their way to request that I do so, then it'd be ridiculously immature of me to say no simply because it doesn't fit my experience in the world.

OH THE POOR MILLENIALS @ AWAY TO COLLEGE with helicopter cell phone & skype parenting

ORIENTATION BULLCRAP....,

Circa ...the fall of 1974.., two H.S. friends I knew , join the Marines...
They join under the "Recruiting platform of the time period"

Called the "Buddy System".. ,

They arrive @
Marine Boot camp ... Paris Island or Quantico...
They ALL GET OFF THE BUS...

Boot camp Drill Sargent gets the clip board and reads the names off...along side these two names it says
"So and So joined under the buddy system"...

Sarge takes one look at that and pulls out a pair of HANDCUFFS and cuffs the two guys together...starts calling them queers and they go through boot camp handcuffed together ( not sure about the real time amount?? A few weeks or the entire boot camp?)...sleep , eat, piss, CRAP, shower, dress, march, exercised.... totally handcuffed together...

That was "Orientation" back in 1974....

I doubt the MILLENIALS of today coulda' handled that
REAL ORIENTATION....
